December 11, 201213 yr Hi all I've been posting on countless fourms about my problem but know one has any idea! By looking through the Avsim fourm it looks like that this is the best place to be! I have been using both FS9 and FSX. As most people will understand I get a better performance with FS9 and have more addons, so prefer to use FS9 The problem starts when I Undock the screen by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Enter When I go to change view or open another program FS9 seems to be stuck behind an image of the last view I was on..... I have tried to reinstall and update FS9 but doesn't seem to work still... Anyone have an ideas? Thanks Pete
December 12, 201213 yr Try using Alt+Enter only to exit full screen. When you're ready to go back to FS9, click anywhere on the FS9 window and press Alt+Enter again. Don't know about your system, but on mine, if I minimize FS9, most of the time I can't get it back and have to right click the icon on the task bar and close it. Nature Boy
December 13, 201213 yr Author Hi guys Thanks for your help! I don't think I explained it very well! I can minimize FS9 with no problem but when I open it in the docked view it is hidden behind the cockpit view. When I press S to change the view it is still on the cockpit view but the sounds changes to indicate that it has changed. Would a video be of any benefit?
December 14, 201213 yr I can minimize FS9 with no problem but when I open it in the docked view Just for the sake of clarity, are you meaning the windowed view mode when you refer to 'docked' as opposed to full screen? Try the "Alt" key (either mode) and in the drop menu select "views" and select or correct you view(s) from there. Regards, Mel P.S. Welcome to AVSIM!
December 17, 201213 yr Author Ok I hope this explains it better.... I prefer to fly on this view so I can use other applications whilst flying.....eg BAV Client, serveinfo etc But when I pull up another program this happens... FS9 is still running and when I press S to change view the sounds changes to... Any ideas Thanks!
December 17, 201213 yr I can't help - but those PIX make me realize I love my 4:3 aspect ratio monitors... I even picked up a spare - just in case... Good luck... Regards, Scott
December 17, 201213 yr Hi. I see you're flying in windowed mode, with the window maximised. I think FS9 can throw out some odd behaviour when swapping between applications if you use a maximised window (vague memory of not doing it myself because of similar behaviour). I'm about to leave the internet until the morning so it will be a while before I reply again, but do you have the same problem if you use a 'restore'd window (click the middle button in the top right corner) and just drag it out to fill the screen? And... do you have the same problem if you use full screen mode (Alt+Enter from your illustration above), and then use Alt+Tab to swap from FS9 to another application. {As an aside I find if I have no other application open then I must Alt+Tab a couple of times to get to my desktop. Once works fine if I already have another application running.} {As another aside, you might like the better-looking clouds in Pablo Diaz' High Def Environment from the library here: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=146315 } Best regards, D

I have no problems when using the ALT -+ Tab method! Thanks for the clouds! I do have a payware addon! This is just the basic install of FS9 until I fix the problem!
December 18, 201213 yr Hi. Ok have tried to pull the screen out and it still doesn't work..... I have no problems when using the ALT -+ Tab method! I wonder if the problem may be related to graphics card settings... so I have three more questions. When you have the black view on the screen press 'W' to change between full 2d panel, mini-panel and no panel. Does the black portion fill the screen, or was the scenery just hidden behind the panel? I ask because black is the default background colour for the 2d view in FS9 and it may be that the scenery portion of the window is just misplaced, (You can usually see this if you grab the top of the panel and drag to resize it when the view is correct). Do you have the same problem if you swap between applications when in VC? Finally, try using FS9's default hardware-display settings and the graphics card's default settings for FS9. That would be 'Global' for Nvidia, I'm not sure about ATI. If none of the above sheds any light, you may have to use Alt+Tab in full screen mode, or get help from someone with more brain cells than I have left! Cheers, D

Cheers, D Hi Dave Ok I still have the same problem in all the views.... I have also reset all the settings to default and turned SLi off......doesn't solve the problem.... Its a really strange one....It seems that FS is stuck behind a window..... I might have to stick this post in the hardware section as I think it has something to do with that! EDIT Ok we might be getting somewhere! I right clicked on the "black screen" and then pressed undock......then I can click through all the views and they work fine.... It also means I can't use the cockpit panel...... Is there a way to have it docked....looks really bad undocked..... Thanks again! Thanks for you help Dave!
December 18, 201213 yr Hi. I've been mulling the problem over this morning and it's just occurred to me that I had a similar problem after installing EZ Scenery- the full package that is, not just the libraries. If I started flying in full screen mode (not just maximised) I could Alt+Enter into windowed mode ok, but while I had the EZ Scenery dll file installed in the ../modules/ folder, every time I Alt+Entered back to full screen I'd get a black screen and a flickering hour-glass mouse pointer followed by a CTD. In order to swap successfully both ways I had to disable the dll by giving it a different extension, only re-enabling it when I had scenery to create. What other FS-related packages do you have installed? It could be that something similar is going on. If you know which dll files belong to which package, you could try temporarily disabling them by giving them different extensions just to be sure none of them is the culprit. Cheers, D
