December 14, 201213 yr I have looked at my scenery.cfg and found that the entries are not in exact numerical order in that there are several missing area numbers. My question is does this make any difference. If so, should I manually edit it and put them in numerical order with no missing areas? Thanks, Bob.
December 14, 201213 yr It doesn't have to be fixed but a corrupted scenery.cfg could possibly, on rare occasions, cause a crash or a problem with FSX. I use a freeware program called Scenery Config Editor (Google). Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 14, 201213 yr does this make any difference? None at all. I chuckle when I see comments like Jim's about "corrupted scenery.cfg files". In all my years of simming I have seen corrupted scenery.cfg files caused by only two reasons. One is the occasional .exe install file that damages the scenery.cfg. The second cause is people manually editing the scenery.cfg, often for no good reason. If you want to clean up your scenery.cfg, which I do from time to time to make it easier to read, I recommend the utility by Steve Greenwood. I tried sending an e-mail to the address in the readme and it was returned as not a good address. Any help? Best regards, Bob.
December 15, 201213 yr Hi Bob, I doubt you will be able to get in contact with Steve, he hasn't been active in the sim community for a while. Did you check the readme? There is a note in there about a needed file. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
