Anyone installed a ButtKicker gamer 2?

Featured Replies

I'm installing one right now. It says to connect the long quick release cable to the amplifier using the banana plugs, "[+] connects to the red terminal, [-] connects to the black terminal"

Makes sense, except I can't see any [+] or [-] markings on my cable?

Anyone connected one up recently?

Thanks

Eugene

Mine is missing the pole markings also. If you note a small 'nub' that is present only on one side of the plug, I have plugged it in so the nub is facing the bottom of the unit. Not sure if this is correct, but the unit works fine.

I contacted them by email, and sent them a pic with the nub facing me and the prongs towards my left hand, this was their reply:

In the photo you provided the "top" connector is positive and the "bottom" connector is negative. The polarity of the connection only effects which direction the piston in the transducer first moves, i.e. a reversed polarity connection will not cause damage. We moved to the plug you have because the previous plug was a bit too tight in its' connection.

Seems they changed the connector, but didn't specify + and minus on the new cable! All it took was to add a line to the FAQ's on the web site, and save us both a lot of googling!

I've not been using it much yet, any tips on recommended setting? With my Carenado BE58 there's a lot of vibration from the seat at low RPM, but disappears completely at take-off RPM. What with all the sound settings in windows, plus the high/low filters and volumes on the device itself, a lot of scope for not having it optimizes very well.....

always curious for those who own it - doesn't the cord get in the way of your chair wheels?

You are right, I was a little nervous not knowing which pole was which.

I have mine set up with the low filter cutoff button 'out', the high freq cutoff dialed about 65, and the high on/off button 'out'. Never studied the manual so these settings are just a guess. I turn up the volume so I feel a slight rumble with idle. I have Accufeel which really makes it rumble on touchdown, flaps, and gear up/down. I really like it and would miss not flying with it.

Re: the cord, it comes with a couple bunge bands so you can keep it out of the way. Fortunately, I don't move much in the chair. :P

You can try contacting Rob Prest (FLEX1978). I believe he strongly recommended it in another thread.

After two blown amps and about two hours in total use out of it, I have given up. It's on the shelf.
