Can you mix scenery?

I've been an Orbx fan but have heard great things about utx and gex. I'm wondering though what happens if you install say orbx Europe and utx/gex Europe. Will they conflict with each other? Will they run simultaneously?

GEX and ORBX both replace FSX's default textures with their own. Not sure if UTX also overwrites ground textures, but their webpage mentions landclass enhancements which ORBX may enhance as well. In areas where they overlap, there will be a conflict. There may be conflicts elsewhere, but only the software developers or those who have all three packages could tell you for sure. IMHO, whatever ORBX touches looks as good as FSX can get--their ground textures are outstanding. But GEX has a good rep as well, so what looks best is probably a matter of personal taste.

Hope this helps, I am sure others will chime in.

I use ORBX, GEX and UTX as well. They work perfectly with each other and are compatible. When you leave the ORBX area then you will see the GEX and UTX textures, and the transition between regions looks pleasing enough.

The only real issue I know of is trees or other autogen may be different when you have the ORBX switch turned on to USA and you fly outside of the region but this issue is so minor not worth worrying about.

I use Orbx, UTX, and GEX products. The key to happiness for me is to switch FTX Central to "Default" when I'm flying outside the Orbx area, and switching back to FTX mode when I am in Orbx world. I noticed that outside the Orbx area, the GEX terrain textures don't look right at all if I neglect to set to Default in the FTX control panel. Otherwise they all coexist really well.

It can be done and it works but I know that eventually the care and feeding of mixed installations like that just became too labor intensive for me when tracking down odd problems. Eventually my patience ran out, but your mileage may vary.
