December 20, 201213 yr I seems that the Flight support team has been busy lately. Today's news update has to do with some new aerocaches that will encompass then entire Iditarod trail. After posting them as an AOTD, they will become permanent so if you miss one you can pick it up later. One will be released each Thursday. I think this is very cool. Here's the link so you can read the entire post. https://news.microsoftflight.com/blogs/news/default.aspx Thank you. December 20, 201213 yr It was yesterdays news By the way there was a thread here and in Steam forum from user who had prepared the route. *click* We flew the route already some month ago, there should be also a thread in the Multiflyer forum... here Anyway nice to prepare it to the masses via the AotD`s. It`s be fun!
December 20, 201213 yr The First iditarod Aerocache is out...and i think they made a mistake. Finding the Aerocache in Anchorage and starting in Nome? I`m a fan of longer journeys to find an Aerocache, but that is a bit too muche even for me.
December 20, 201213 yr I also think this is cool. Even though a few of us have already done it on our own, it will be nice to have it as permanent content in Flight. Flying this route low and slow in the CC really gives you an appreciation of what an incredible feat this is to do by dogsled. I have a very simple Iditarod flight plan, so I’ve been searching the Avsim forums looking for a good one. Perhaps if someone knows of one, they could put up a link?
December 21, 201213 yr It is a long flight but they did that intentionally because people were asking for longer flights. Now there is one! You can always just use the map and place your aircraft near Anchorage if you don`t have time for or don`t fancy the idea of such a long flight. Defeats the object though really. You get to see such superb scenery on the way and can make some stop offs for fuel .
December 22, 201213 yr I agree with Louis. This was an "oops". The first checkpoint is Willow. (actually Willow is the official restart. Anchorage is just the cerimonial start) Lets see where we fly from next Thursday.
