Wing Flex in New turbulence effect?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Thank you for your explanation of wingflex. I understand. However, what I was more getting at is that there seems to be turbulence and wing flex every single time you go through the couds.

While this isn't true. Would it be possible to sort of randomize the turbulence? If you know what I mean... maybe I am asking too much.

Hi Scarlette

It is FSX that determines when to flex the wings, the LWE has to predict the likely strength of the effect for each altitude zone before hand. But it is quite normal to experience turbulence always when passing through cloud or close to, or amongst cloud layers. The moisture and humidity changes in the cloud affects the air density quite considerably, hence when flying through cloud or changing air density regions you always experience turbulence.

We also monitor the FSX parameters in conjunction with our known meteorological conditions to determine the other turbulence effects, which can be controlled on the fly so to speak. The FSX parameters can't always be relied upon but they are factored in even though not totally accurate. We will be adding numerous other factors to the low level turbulence and CAT calculations (for both low and high altitude zones). Once we add these factors and include the changing meteorological conditions (which will also add a randomness factor, albeit adjusted to take into account the new parameters, making the random factor less or more likely at different altitude zones), then you will see some other less predictable turbulence creeping in, which should help improve the overall effect.

We will add these extra factors and parameters bit by bit over the next betas, so you should see some improvement and some unpredictable turbulence added, in addition to the more predictable turbulent areas of course. This plus the possible CAT above FL080 should keep you busy at the controls, especially the seat belt sign.

By the way, we have now limited the highest 'very strong' wing flex setting for when you fly through or close to CBs. But again its up to FSX when to animate the flexing of the wings, they should be flexing very nicely for you though.

Regards

Stephen
