December 23, 201213 yr I am really excited for the new turbulence effect! However one of the only reasons I wanted turbulence is the wing flex, and this affect doesn't touch the wings at all! I am a big NGX flyer, and the wing flex is a big feature!
December 23, 201213 yr If I am not mistaken the accelerometer data and subsequent implementation of it only pertains to the view from the pilot's perspective. Wing flex is a feature built into the various aircraft and thus has nothing to do with the Opus turbulence effects. I may be wrong but that's how I read it. Yes, the new effects are pretty darn good and add that extra feeling of "being there". December 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi The wing flex is down to the aircraft sim. I think there may be a setting for wing flex in the config file but try googling it, not sure if this would effect the NGX wing flex. Regards Cheryl
December 24, 201213 yr Turbulence effect? I have not noticed any turbulence effect. How does one go about turning this on? Chris Strobel KSNA
December 24, 201213 yr I tried the turbulence effect for the first time yesterday (with the latest beta) and it was superb. Really well done. With the new version of Accu-Feel on its way with a turbulence effect these two will play veeery nicely together
December 25, 201213 yr I tried the turbulence effect for the first time yesterday (with the latest beta) and it was superb. Really well done. December 27, 201213 yr Chris, under the DHM settings. You can test the effects by ticking the "Test" box and vary them by the sliders. A bit of experimentation will get you what you like. You must remember to set up a new camera or if you already have a camera view you like simply enable DHM, adjust settings and remember to Save All Cameras before you exit the Cameras menu. December 28, 201213 yr Commercial Member For the Bump Aircraft option, which enables turbulence on the aircraft when airborne, either the Turbulent Motion or Turbulent Bump options must be enabled. The sliders for Turbulent Motion, Turbulent Bump, Less Turbulence and More Turbulence all effect the Bump Aircraft severity. The bump aircraft effect is not actually shown in test mode since it looks weird on the ground! Regards Cheryl
December 28, 201213 yr Commercial Member With the new version of Accu-Feel on its way with a turbulence effect these two will play veeery nicely together I'm not sure how Accu-Feel turbulence will work in conjunction with OpusFSX, we normally suggest you turn off Accu-Feel turbulence effects since they may conflict with our effects and vice versa. Anyway you will be able to test both ways and see what works and what doesn't. Cheers Cheryl
December 28, 201213 yr Cheryl now that I've had OPUS turbulence,it'll be Accu-Feel turbulence that will be turned off I think.
December 29, 201213 yr I'm sorry, it seems that I can never get through what I am trying to say to you guys. The NGX, default as it comes, comes equipped with a very very nice wingflex effect. Now this effect is most commonly seem on the ground, but with FSX DEFAULT weather, if you set the weather to have WINDS; in the air, the NGX wings will simulate going up and down in response to that WIND TURBULENCE. With your Weather Engine, the 'Turbulence Effect" you guys implimented does not make aircraft with wing flex, such as the NGX simulate the up and down movement from WIND on the wings. (Or wing flex) Wondering if you guys will be making it so this effect will do this or not. The REX essentials + weather engine has this with it's winds.
December 29, 201213 yr With your Weather Engine, the 'Turbulence Effect" you guys implimented does not make aircraft with wing flex, such as the NGX simulate the up and down movement from WIND on the wings. (Or wing flex) In the NGX you pretty much have to go looking for wing flex. In a sailplane, the wings flap like an ornithopter and you see it every time you turn your head. In better sailplane models, you hear the wing flex as well as the skin of the aircraft stretches. Turbulence implemented by camera movement alone isn't going to be good enough. If turbulence by aircraft bump will cause wing flex, and require control inputs to keep straight and level, that will be acceptable. While you're at it, get rid of the camera movement except for the inertia of your head trying to keep up with the aircraft jumping around in the turbulence. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! December 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Scarlett We will have another look at the wing flex to see if there is anything we can do. The wing flex is an animation that is part of the aircraft model but we will see what can be done. Regards Cheryl
