December 25, 201213 yr Hi everyone, I've got another problem with the MD-11, I flew an approach at EHAM RWY 06 and paused the simulator to extend the flaps, But when I landed I saw a warning saying ENG3-2-1 FADEC ALTN. What caused this and what does this mean? Greetings!
December 25, 201213 yr Hi, Sounds like your throttles were in the 'overboost' position. (beyond maximum thrust) This means that the engines will produce all thrust possible, and causes the FADEC's to jump to their Alternate mode and stay there untill the FADEC's are reset to 'Normal' mode. To go back to 'Normal' FADEC operation, press the 3 guarded buttons directly over the captian's head. The amber 'ALT' light should extinguish on each of the buttons. Merry Christmas! December 25, 201213 yr The alternate FADAC does not provide limitations to the engine and gives the pilot full control of all available thrust. The FADEC prevents high N1, high N2, low N2 and EGT. The alternate FADEC does not provide these protections and the pilot should operate the throttles with caution so that he doesn't harm the engine unnecessarily. As said above either over-boosting the engine, loss of the associated FADAC itself or loss off the air data computer and some other reasons could cause a FADEC transition to alternate FADEC, however nothing explains your problem. Did you accidentally hit the over-boost bar at the end of the throttle quadrant? This would most likely explain your situation. John John Rubens
December 26, 201213 yr Author Hello, I think the engine override was pushed, here is a picture of the situation when it first happened.(sorry but it's a photo) Could you determine what happened? Greetings and Merry Christmas!
