'Last post' unreachable

Featured Replies

Hey there. I think this only happens on the larger topics. Take the current Airbus Extended thread for example.

As you see, the last post is from a silly guy posting even more silly stuff. But, when clicking, you land somewhere else in the thread and a bunch of the last posts doesn't get displayed. In fact, I'm landing at the top of page 21.

But the forum overview shows the last post correctly. Mind the dates.

After a while, this behaviour seems to clear up and the last post becomes reachable.

I couldn't say when the forums started behaving like that on larger threads. But I saw it happening over some time now and I was wondering if there was something wrong with my browsers or if the system just needs time to update large threads. However, this wouldn't explain why the forum overview is current, right?

One more note. I can find the last posts via the forum search. But, again, when clicking the links, I end up 'sooner' in the thread.

I've noticed this on tapatalk too. After awhile it seems to update? Maybe after someone else posts...

Good point, Lee. That after a while self-fix makes me think that it's bound to the large threads only and their 'internal' update of some kind.

yeah that must be it. Ill see if it happens with smaller ones. Ive noticed it on threads like the Extended and Friction in FSX...really long ones.

Are you positive you're actually "reading" the last one or two pages of posts? Depending on your preferences it will open the topic to the first unread post by default. I noticed this too but then realized I maybe missed a post or two from the very last post.

Sincerely,

Chase

Good point. But in the example above I only saw page 21 whereas all later posts were on 22. But, 22 wasn't reachable (it didn't show up at all) although the forum overview tried to link to a post on 22.

I see that this is a tricky one as, currently, the large Airbus thread works. Don't ask me about the condition it needs to show the behaviour mentioned. Maybe many edits and/or new posts within a small time span?

It currently happens again in the Airbus thread. See the forum overview, showing Tom (tf51d) posting the last one.

When clicking, you get to page 22 and when scrolling down, there is no other page and there also isn't a post from Tom (tf51d). Seems like the page switch triggers the problem in some way.

My guess would be that Tom's post later appears on page 23. For now, this page can't be reached.

Just to add to the above. The condition with the unreachable last post/page persists even after three hours (from the date the actual last post was made). So if there's a problem with the system updating the thread or something, it takes some time.

I think one can post new stuff regardless of the problem, but she/he may not be able to see her/his post then. Happened to me before on the example from the first post.

I really think the page flip has something to do with the delay.

Just to add, I've seen the same issue, and reported back on Dec 23.
