January 3, 201313 yr I agree. His "Chiliview" scenery for FS9 does not have the sharp resolution of the "Hi-Res" products that he offered previously for FS9. I removed all the Chiliview stuff. Really slowed down the framerates and caused long stutters. Not worth it for a resolution I found to be substandard. I didn't get any framerate decrease in FSX. If anything, the framerate improved. I think that Bluesky (and MegasceneryEarth for that matter) would both see a huge increase if they could explain how someone could, in a reasonable way, create generated scenery that would sit on top of their gorgeous photogen. I know people have talked about the difference between autogen and landclasses and blah, blah, blah. It's kind of fascinating but, truth is...what matters is...what do you do to get stuff (trees, roads, buildings, bushes) on top of the scenery. If there was a clear way to do it then I think folks would. Not to rehash the whole Object Studio/Scenery Studio conversation again... January 4, 201313 yr If there was a clear way to do it then I think folks would. Autogen on photoreal is a painstaking manual process.France VFR have apparently cracked that nut with "3D Automation" on their latest offerings; payware, granted. These offer excellent 3D detail on good photoreal. Sadly they seem to have left FS9 behind now. Happily there is still a lot I do not have, and I buy one every so often http://www.francevfr.com/gamme_promo.htm
January 4, 201313 yr Well, as I understand it, if it's on photoreal it's not autogen. It's just objects. But I see what you're saying. The 'objects' on MegasceneryX are mostly poorly placed (except around the city center and the airports) but it does fool the mind well enough. I keep threatening to buy Object Studio and Instant Scenery just to see. Ah well...sigh. Gregg Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane.
