January 2, 201313 yr that looks great! downloading now. Do you know if it plays well with Mega Scenery SoCal?
January 2, 201313 yr Love to hear how well it works in FSX. Does it have night lighting? I just took a flight into SMO in MegasceneryX...very enjoyable. I wish someone would do the Santa Barbara area. So many great and beautiful areas heading up the coast. If someone would create scenery like MegasceneryX up there I'd have my wallet out so fast. Santa Barbara, Bakersfield, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Salinas, Monterey, Half Moon Bay, San Jose, Napa, Sacramento....so many more...sigh. January 2, 201313 yr If someone would create scenery like MegasceneryX up there I'd have my wallet out so fast. Yeah, unfortunately even Megascenery isn't doing stuff like MegasceneryX anymore. Gregg, have you tried the Blue Sky Chiliview series up that way? No night, and no autogen, and the colors in some of the areas up the coast are still a bit wonky (I think the imagery available up there just isn't that good for color), but at least so far I've not found any awful airport bleed-through issues like I've seen in the older MS Earth products. And since this is the FS9 forum :-) I'll add that it's available on both FSX and FS9. Scott
January 2, 201313 yr That DTLA is by Blue Sky Scenery and is FS9 only. Further, they are no longer developing for FS9, so all new scenery areas are FSX only. That's the only reason I finally upgraded to FSX. Tawni
January 3, 201313 yr That DTLA is by Blue Sky Scenery and is FS9 only. Further, they are no longer developing for FS9, so all new scenery areas are FSX only. Blue Sky is very much still developing for FS9. The whole Chiliview series is constantly being expanded and is available on both platforms. Scott
January 3, 201313 yr Actually, not true, Scott. Effective with the release of San Diego North (month or two ago), they are not developing any scenery going forward for FS9. This is per a response directly from Gottfried to my inquiry regarding this matter.
January 3, 201313 yr Gregg, have you tried the Blue Sky Chiliview series up that way? Well, I tried what they had about 6 months ago around Monterey. The resolution wasn't too good and it was depressingly flat. I don't fly at night very often so night lighting isn't a big deal. I love flying over photogen but when I land, I'd like to have something to see. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. January 3, 201313 yr Effective with the release of San Diego North (month or two ago), they are not developing any scenery going forward for FS9. My apologies for the poor information. The last releases I'd looked at were still for both, but on looking again I see you're absolutely correct. Well, I tried what they had about 6 months ago around Monterey. The resolution wasn't too good and it was depressingly flat. The quality does seem a notch down as you move north. Don't know if the newer areas he's done further north are better or not as i haven't tried them (as above). As for the landing part, I certainly agree. Pure photo at a default airport is pretty dreary. Scott
January 3, 201313 yr Yeah, that's pretty much the point of this thread. It looks like someone created some pretty cool objects on top of photoreal. I still haven't pulled out my wallet for Cities X Los Angeles...still mulling on whether or not it's worth it on top of Megascenery X. I might try one of the other cities first. His "Chiliview" scenery for FS9 does not have the sharp resolution of the "Hi-Res" products that he offered previously for FS9. I removed all the Chiliview stuff. Really slowed down the framerates and caused long stutters. Not worth it for a resolution I found to be substandard. gwillmot
