January 4, 201313 yr Hi, Today I took my virtual Beech for a ride to Innsbruck. Descending trough about 9000 feet a fog layer (or a cloud) came up and the visibility was reduced. However also my FPS dropped from 30 to 14. This can't be normal, or is it? I mean it runs at a solid 30 all the flight until approach where it starts to drop. As I passed below the fog/cloud layer about 300-500 feet AGL I had my 30 FPS again. This wasn't the first time I noticed that, but today it has been really bad. Did I mess something up in my settings or is this normal? Best regards, Jonathan John Rubens
January 4, 201313 yr FPS dropped from 30 to 14. That seems to be a problem with ATI video cards. I often get similar drops any time the sky is full of clouds. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

January 4, 201313 yr Author 8xSQ [Combinied: 2x2 SS + 2x MS] and Transprency Supersampling is 2 xSupersampling I had 8xS set a few weeks ago and the problem also has been there. Should I try to lower it further down? John Rubens
January 4, 201313 yr Unfortunately I got an NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti Direct CU II You just saved me some money! If nVidia is getting lousy frame rates in clouds, no sense buying one to replace a perfectly good ATI. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! January 5, 201313 yr My gut feeling is your AA setting is too high. Try dropping the transparency component in particular. If that doesn't help try switching to plain old 8xS
January 7, 201313 yr Commercial Member Also please note that Overcast Enhancement feature in AS2012 SP2 beta has a performance penalty as more clouds need to be drawn. You can disable overcast enhancement if you prefer higher frames vs. more solid overcast. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
