February 6, 201313 yr Does anyone know why some payware airport jetways doesn't work? Is this a problem caused by AES? I tried it in Aerosoft Munich airport but no luck. They design the airport with AES in mind and thus break the default FSX moving jetways. I bought Anchorage X and was very disappointed to find out that all jetways do not move anymore. Also it is not DX10 compatible. Least now I learn what to watch for before I purchase.
February 6, 201313 yr Is this a problem caused by AES? Not directly, and I wouldn want to say that it's done to force people to buy AES credits, but it sure is related to AES: Some developers just thouht/think that they just build static jetways instead of using FSX's moving jetway code and allow Oliver Papst to develop moving jetways for AES at those airports, because those fit better to all aircraft, and they're customizable to a very high level. February 6, 201313 yr Krazyk, Can you post for all to read on using both AES & GSX? Thanks Sure, here you go : 1. Load up at an AES enabled airport in your sim. 2. While loaded up, start the 'AESConfig.exe' which usually has a shortcut placed on the desktop. 3. In AESConfig, click on 'Set Aircraft Parameters' 4. The nose landing gear is always enabled so I'm afraid you won't be able to get rid of the AES marshaller for that reason. Anyways, select the doors that you want AES to recognize for jetways and set the door location within AESConfig. For every door (including cargo doors) that you want GSX to take control of, simply deactivate them in AESConfig by making sure the statement 'Selected door is available in UNCHECKED'. This is just fooling AES into thinking that the selected door DOES NOT exist. 5. Repeat Step 4 for every door that you DON'T want AES to recognize. GSX will automatically take charge of these doors. 6. That should do it. Since I'm still working on disabling the aircraft nose gear permanent deactivation in AES, I can't give you an accurate suggestion of how to get rid of the AES marshaller just yet but if I ever make a breakthrough, I'll definitely message you. 7. As for GSX, you do the opposite of what you did in AES. So if in AES you selected a certain door is active, in GSX settings you can select that door to be inactive. REMEMBER, clicking on 'Parking has jetway' in GSX will only disable the 1L door (or the first door on the left side) and not any other. So it's better you start the GSX aircraft utility (available through the insim GSX menu) and completely deactivate the doors you plan on using with AES. 8. To make sure AES does not screw up, go to your 'intelliscene.cfg' file which should be located in your aircraft folder and make sure it only has co-ordinates for doors that you want it to recognize. If you find any other element set (for example Cargo1 or such), simply delete the entry and overwrite the file. The instructions might be a little more confusing than I'd like but since I'm away from my FSX system, I'm working off my short term memory to provide you with the settings. Either ways, if anything does not work as you'd like or you have any other issue with AES/GSX, just shoot me a message here on AVSIM and I'll reply at the soonest Good luck! P.S. : There was a hint that pow0011 aka Hendo provided for making sure that only GSX marshaller shows up and not both AES and GSX. He said that the marshaller is tied up to the nose wheel position of the aircraft. If you disable the nose wheel position in AES, it should disable the marshaller too. I tried to do this but I couldn't make it work. If anyone else finds a solution to that, I'd really appreciate it if it was shared. NOTE : I wrote down these steps when GSX had just been released. It's been updated regularly ever since and some things like Step 7 might be inaccurate now as far which door is disabled by default in GSX, etc.
February 6, 201313 yr The only reason I purchased credits for AES (AES is freeware - it does work w/o cost with some airports) was to get a jetway to my aircraft since most of my favorite airports are payware. So far I have seen no compatibility between AES and GSX. If you call up the AES to board, the jetway will arrive and you'll get a baggage loader (but no baggage carts). Then if you call GSX to board, a non-jetway ground boarding object will come and get in the way of the jetway that AES put there and more baggage loaders but this time with baggage carts and actual loading of bags. For pushback, you can just ask for clearance with AES and they will do no pushback but you need to do this to get the gate to move away from the aircraft. Then you can call GSX to do the pushback (which is far more realistic). If you own GSX, you can test compatibility with AES by going to one of the AES 'free' airports and doing what I just explained above. Personally I think the credits for the payware airports should have been included in the price of the payware airport so one could purchase an airport with everything working like it should. February 6, 201313 yr Jim, I believe the reason why you have a GSX stairs pulling up to the door where AES jetway is enabled is because you did not check 'Parking has a jetway' and 'disable stairs' in the GSX menu. Doing so will make sure that GSX does not interfere with the boarding process and only supply the pushback tug along with the baggage carts and handlers.
February 6, 201313 yr Thanks for that tip Karan! In that case, it would definitely make things more compatible. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! February 6, 201313 yr One thing I'd like too see with GSX is a tow-in option. This would be perfect for an airport like FSDT LAX. Also something fun like being towed to a different gate if you want.
