I was told to go around

Featured Replies

I did a flight to an airport (sturup) and got cleared for landing. When I got very close to land I was told to go around.I wonder why I got this instruction. It has only happened duringthe IFR checkride before. There were not much traffic around.

Was there traffic on the runway? sometimes it is difficult to tell as aicraft lables ony function on aircraft that are in the air.

Oh! U guys are talking about MSFS :)Sometime I get confused as to wether people are chatting about real-life flying or the sim!

>One of the reasons that I NEVER use FS9's ATC is being told>to go around in a 747-200 with the wheels on the runway,>spoilers extended and reverse thrust engaged. Somehow, don't>think that sort of thing is " as real as it gets..." I just>ignore it as an annoyance.Yes FS9 ATC really need some rework. The thing that annoyes me most is that ATC often seems to ignore your flightplan and tells you torepeatedly switch between two headings. That once resulted in outof fuel for me and I ended up in the sea outside the airport. But what to use instead?

hello there,if you're sure that you want to use atc there are two options besides the default ATC of Microsoft. One way to go is RadarContact (V3.0). It's quite a lot better than default and gives you a bit of a challenge now and then. OK ok, it's not perfect and atc-chatter is limited and you will hear the same remarks over and over again but, as a program, you'll not find better for the moment. The second option is to join one of the online-organisations who will provide you with realtime online atc. A bit of a learning curve there and the software isn't as straightforward as it should be but it sure is worth the effort. My choice today would be the FPI (Flightproject International) network. Rather new on the block but with the easiest setup of them all.You can find the all here:www.jdtllc.com (Radar contact)www.flightproject.comLuc 'Glaudrung' BrusselmansBelgium

The best one I had recently was coming into CYHM in a 172. I get cleared to land and hear ATC tell a 737 to follow me in.Next thing I know the 737 is RIGHT OVER MY HEAD! He passes me and as he gets ready to touch down he gets told "go around".I land as normal and then make way to the control tower with fist's clinched (and to find out what gate that dumb arse 737 captain is going to so I can meet him too) :DXP Home SP1Asus P4P800-SE Intel 3.0GHZDDR 400 D/C 2x512MBGeForce FX 5700 256MB (56.72)SB AudigyMSFF2 & X45 throttleSee you in the fence...CYYZ

There is a Radar Contact forum here on AVSIM you can investigate. The current version but officially in beta is 3.1. In order tyo implement it after getting a delivery of the CD is to download an .exe a some voice sets, all expplained. This version of RC is AI aware, but can not control it. The version not released yet of 4.0 will be an upgrade and promises some control of air and ground AI, plus as you get near destination an AI analysis trend to merge you correctly with MS AI control.I use 3.1 and while at a busy airport can get some go arounds, it still provides some options worth considering.
