Ultra high PC Specs, low fps

Featured Replies

Hello,

Because i had low fps at airports as Mega Airport Amsterdam I decided to upgrade my motherbaord so I was able to overclock. After my overclock i completely reinstalled FSX on a new SSD drive. Unfortunately my fps is not even a bit higher than before my overclock. I still get around 12fps at Amsterdam with the PMDG, GSX, Utliamte Traffic 2 and the airport from Aerosoft. I followed the guide from Word Not Allowed to set up my fsx.cfg. With this pc specs it must be possible to get more fps or not?

Thanx.

ASRock z77 Extreme 4

Intel 3770k @ 4,6 Ghz

8 GB Venegance RAM

Corsair H100i cooler

Corsair Neutron 240 GB SSD Drive for FSX

Hmmm... Should be way higher than that. What graphicscard do you have installed?

Sorry, haven't thought about that in my original post... I have a Nvidia GTX 670 2 GB card

Are you running any ai ? I get around 17 FPS with 20% ai and my system is not as good as yours.

Might be worth trying at a different airport. Mega Schipol is a well known stinker when it comes to performance.

I've done some tweaking with the Word Not Allowed guide now, i get around 18-22 FPS while taxiing. Maybe the highest i can get at his airport...

Thats pretty good, I would be happy with that, I know this is one of the hardest airports on FPS in FSX.

I know that this may not be common to everyone but may I ask which tweak did it for you?

Cheers

TURN.> YOUR>. SLIDERS>. DOWN>.

I'm scared because i was going to buy new computer close to yours specification.

3770K, asus maximus v, 4x4gb on win 8 and 660gtx. Could you check and tell me pls, how many fps you have on some demanding aircrafts like pmdg 737nx?

it's a bit useless to ask this without also asking for a COMPLETE list of ALL FSX settings AND tweaks. ^_^ Some people say they have awesome performance but they don't say they have most sliders left. Apart from that: the specs may be close but even with the exact same hardware someone else may get totally different performance, again depending on settings and tweaks but also how the OS is setup.

Questions about performance on a forum are a bit useless all in all, really... specially when it comes to FSX!

Higher clock should definitely be helping but if you are at around 12fps now, clock back down to stock and you'll only see it drop to 10fps or so. Gains always are small when talking lowish frames like this.

What are your autogen and cloud radius settings? Reduce them. Also try lowering your water to 2.x low.

Turn off your ground shadows as well.

At most airports i have a fps of around 20-25. Flying the PMDG in air the fps will increase to around 30. Flying above the clouds always around 35. im sure its possbile to get more but that will be with less addons. On most airports i run a scneery addon for the airport and a scneery addon for the landscape around it (like ORBX England). Also im running PMDG 737, Ezdok, AS2012, GSX and FS2Crew all the time. I'm pretty happy with how my FSX looks like but flying with so much addons give more and more OOMS now...

Do you mean higher clock speed? (From 100 Mhz to ....)?

Those frames sound about right to me. I think you are expecting too much.
