More fun with FS Water

Featured Replies

Greg, your pics look great and that is a sweet idea on the various texture sets. I too was given a key from Tom to try it out (thank you very much) I have found that Peter and I don't agree with what the water should look like, doesn't mean he didn't do a great job on his files, I really love the sky textures and the Caribbean water (like in Gregs TNCM pic) looks great at altitude. Being a VFR flyer, I am trying to get a good water set that looks detailed at lower altitudes and distance, Peter's looks great at higher altitudes, but less detailed/ to large up close. I am using a combo of Peters and Vilks, because I like the wave crests and the BMP is smaller, more detailed. I fly up north quite a bit and the water around Juneau is still too light of a color for my taste, but the inland/ lake water looks pretty good.I reccommend the FSWater package as it does enhance the experience and if what Greg says works, then with various texture sets, you can have the water you want, where you want with a single click, something I am going to look at today. If so, maybe Peter can work on some different add on texture sets and eventually be able to please everyones tastes.BTW Rugerdog, are we all invited to the party afterwards??? ;-)Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACalVirAir International

"BTW Rugerdog, are we all invited to the party afterwards??? "We may be too late... the party could be over already (hangover time now).I believe Peter is working on various bitmaps for the OceanHeightField, as well as other enhancements. I'm anxious to see the upgrade when it's released.Greg

><<<<<< Maybe because they poop so much it causes algebra to>form in the water also >>>>>>>How do you know this.....have you done the 'math'?? >>I have. I'll tell you there sure are a lot of plusses and minuses to this all.

I hate math.....especially algae.

GC...that is too funny!great pics greg. i like my water textures the way i have them setup right now....except when i'm at altitude i can see the water textures kinda "squaring off" out in the distance. by looking at your pics, it looks like this may have now been eliminated. can you confirm?if so, i may also take the plunge!thankschris

I'm not sure about the squaring of Chris? Geg has a new bump mapping wave file that he is kindly beta testing and it is looking very good.if you do download the package, 1 - you will get money back if you are not satisfied and 2 - I will invite you in on the test and let you have the new waves file. I think you'll like it.Peter

>I am never drinking any water again because of all of this now.Well then I guess you also can't drink anything that contains water, which includes a lot of things. Beer for instance.LOLDavidInstead of fish poop why not something realistic, like babes sunbathing on the beach?

"...except when i'm at altitude i can see the water textures kinda "squaring off" out in the distance. by looking at your pics, it looks like this may have now been eliminated."Not sure about the scenario you mention, Chris. If you mean the distant FS Water textures when the sun angle is high (midday for example), then yes, I don't see any of that in FS Water. The textures blend very nicely for me.But if you're referring to the blocky textures at sunrise and sunset, then no. That is a problem with the FS9 coding, and no water package will fix it.Cheers,Greg

Right on bro!:-hah I'm still requesting an AUTOBABE Engine for FS2006!!:-xxrotflmaoBabes all over the place!! Just imagine!!!:9Microsoft do you hear me?!:-hah

well Peter, ya can't go wrong with that! i like the sound of the user interface too. the way i have it now, i have to keep directions saved just to know which files to recover if i need to go to a different set of textures. kind of a pain when its time to change.the squaring off i'm referring to is shown in the FSWater showcase page at the flight1 site. http://www.flight1software.com/showcase/fswater/ its the 4th set of pics up from the bottom....and it looks like it solves the problem.i'll get it this weekend when i have some time to install and play with it. thanks for your efforts!chris
