PMDG 737NGX Anyone managed to edit Panel.cgf ?

Featured Replies

I have tried a lot to make changes in the Panel cfg file: panel_Wide.cfg that is found in Drive:\...\SimObjects\Arircrafts\PMDG... and nothing I change seems to make a diference when I load the plane.

For example I tried also to delete, hide, all the bitmaps like: PMDG_NGX_Main_Wide.BMP and even when they are not in the folder I still see the panel in the simulation. I also tred to change the CDU gauge so that only the screen part would show up as a collegue from the Forum suggested but with no result:

" To display the screen of the CDU, I modify the panel.cfg of the PMDG 737-800NGX WL in the section CDU left I put:

gauge00 = PMDG_737NGX! CDU_Screen, 0,0,390,625, L # 0

In P3D I open a new window with the left CDU. I drag the window to the screen and I OpenCockpits CDU dimensioned to fill the screen"

Has anyone been able to make any changes and get good results? I am trying to make views for my homemade cockpit into separate LCD screens and would like to get rid of the frames of undocked windows that some time end up ovelapping another LCD screen due to the resize.

Maybe this as been covered before but I could not find, Thank you, Luis.

More than likely, the bitmaps are also coded into the gauge dll files. You would have to find them all, replace them in the dll with a blank (RGB 0,0,0) bitmap of the exact same size, and then disable the authenticode signature in the header to make it an unsigned dll so FSX will allow it to load. Lots of work that requires some special skills and tools...probably not worth the effort.

Are you also renaming the panel_wide.cfg file to panel.cfg? FSX is only gonna look at the 'panel.cfg' file.

Great Nolatron, sorry not sure your name, this did it my mistake I had not saved the file as panel.cfg only. I also found a way to get gauges out and edited, cropped and made into new undockable windows so that I can place them properly in my cockpit, I will write a simple how to on this later when I get some free time.

Thank you both for your replies! Luis.
