Prepar3D nVidia SLI Experience
Yep, should we combine our experiences and share somewhere else or in a new topic so that others can see, maybe LM is not aware?

Prepar3D nVidia SLI Experience
Dear all, after a lot of testing some conclusions! 1. Prepar3D v3 SLI works but not at all when undocked windows are used. This had been solved and was working quite well in v2.5. Too bad for the ones that use it. The GPU load on the second card drops nearly to 0%. Closing the undocked brings SLI back immediately. 2. SLI even without undocked does not represent too much benefit. From all my testing one single GPU without SLI gives much the same. 3. For people that use undocked views, ones with some type of home made cockpits: a. One single GPU and all 3 monitors give basically the same FPS then if you have 1 GPU 1 monitor and a second GPU with another monitor or two (my case), the load stays mainly in the first GPU. b. SLI as of this release of v3 is not an option, v2.5 is way better in FPS c. I moved from 2 SLI GTX770 to 1 GTX970 with all 3 monitors in one GPU and there is a excellent increase in FPS! This is off course comparing the SLI results I have in v2.5 to non SLI in v3.0. Off course we know GTX970 is a quite better perfromer but I would not imagine one alone would be so much better then 2 GTX770 in SLI. So here is my experience. I made a lot of benchmarking and as well some videos to go along but I think the conclusion is what matters. If you are today in SLI like me check out a new single GPU that might give you way more headroom. PS to conclude I would like to say that v3 experience is just great, no issue of worring with memory (VAS) even in very heavy scenery and airports, just smooth flight experience, best I had in a loooong time! BR//Luis.

Quick question: on the 2 monitors without SLI where did you connect the monitors 1 or 2 GPUs? I am still on WIN7

Prepar3D nVidia SLI Experience
Hello Michael and Pincopanco, for me SLI is working in v3 with the manual settings of Rob, I will try to make a small review with pictures or video later tonight to show what I get. If I use nVidia normal driver profile then it goes in SLI but there is a large drop in FPS. Here is my configuration: 2 GPU's GTX770 in SLI, running OrbX + P3D v3 + PMDG 737NGX monitor1 in HDMI GPU1: projector 1920x1080 external view monitor 2 in DVI 1 GPU1: monitor with 3 undocked panels monitor 3 in DVI 2 GPU2: monitor with 2 undocked panels With this I get avarage 30-40 FPS unlocked and for a smooth flight I lock it at 25 FPS I also tested yesterday without SLI and monitor 1 in GPU1 and monitor 2 and 3 on GPU2 and results looked similar but I need to have time to test more to come with conclusions but looks like although SLI works and both GPUs show a high load it is not an advantage over no SLI.

Prepar3D nVidia SLI Experience
Thanks for feedback. I do have 3 monitors running all the time, one projectot for external view and 2 other for external windows all by using SLI and it works really well and smooth. Just need to give SLI focus to the external view but again with the tweaked nv inspaector settings but not good with the stock from nVidia...

Prepar3D nVidia SLI Experience
Dear all, great so far with v3 I got a big boost on FPS and usage of my 2 GPU's went to over 90% all great! BUT this is if I am using the profile I had got from Rob Ainscough for the v2.5 and adjusted manually with the helpm of: nVidia Inspector (NI) to remove the artifacts in SLI ... these settings here: http://www.robainsco...I_Settings.html . If I use normal nVidia profile from the last driver update the FPS drops a lot and very bad use of my GPU's. What are your experiences so far? BR// Luis. PS I use 2 GTX770

PMDG 737 NGX Released for P3D
Can someone let me know if the popup windows are still the same? I have been using the PFD's and FMC, etc in my cockpit external monitors and flying with no VC and would need to keep it that way. Thank you in advance.

2-Way and 3-Way SLI support in P3D V2.3
LuisClement replied to a post in a topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcWill be interesting to see your findings, I see that not always things work as they are said to be. For example if I read Nvidia Q/A for SLI it states that only 2 monitors are supported for multi-monitor in sli but I am using 3 monitors for my cockpit with no problem, the main view one with the focus selection to get most of the 3d acceleration, so we never know. I would like to try to add a 4th one and then have two for surround, main view and 2 for my nd/pfd/cdu views as I have.

2-Way and 3-Way SLI support in P3D V2.3
LuisClement replied to a post in a topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcHey Rob, I will come back with more when I am back in the cockpit tonight. What I did basically was I tried the AFR friendly sliu way first and checked what I got, then keeping all same I tried with std prepar3d.exe plus settings in nVida conotrol planel and editing the parameters through NVinspector and got basically the same in FPS improvement, so I concluded that I could just stay with this. I moved as well to latest nVidia driver and no problems so far. My current focus is on keeping my VAS low as with prepar3d + 73xxx +orb x + some airports it can be a challange to avoid oom's. I use 3 monitors for my cockpit, one is view, and 1 for CDU+lower planel and other for PFD's+clock, so a total of 5 undocked panels.

LuisClement replied to a post in a topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcHello Rob, any more updates or findings from your side? I have been now testing as well SLI for a couple of days and so far working well with running in with 3 independent monitors, I use one for main view and 2 others for my cockpit. All is done now with NV and AFR2. I will bring findings when more secure of the testings. BR//Luis.

P3D v2 Multi Monitor [Performance Workaround]
Thought of sharing here as well, the bellow is from the LM P3D official forum (they are aware and looking for a solution as well): [WORKED] Back home and more testing and found out that as some had mentioned if the monitor 1 is not selected as main in the screen resolution menu but is used as the main monitor the FPS when undocking does not drop more then normal and the GPU keeps being used to its full potential! so here is how to make it work: 1. On the Screen Resolution selector in Windows click on monitor 2 and select Make this my min display check box 2. Here is the important part you NEED to start the P3D v2 from that now new main monitor, if you start frst and then switch the main it does not work and FPS drops and GPU drops 3. Once it is running you can move the p3d app into the main view monitor if it is not opening there already 4. After that you can move undocked around and even make you Monitor the main one again and things stay good. Note: there is always small drop on adding panels but not as it happens if you do not do this as the GPU drops for some reason. Hope you will buy time for all multi-display users until LM guys make a final solution. Enjoy v2 it is great!!! Best regards, Luis. (ORIGINAL) Dear P3DV2 team and community, Let me start by saying congratulations to you and team, the new version is great despite the points already stressed by many, very normal on development. I have been using v1.4 for since beginning and very happy with it. It is the base of my 737NG home cockpit, picture here: .... On the v 1.4 I use 3 monitors for it and get around 25-40 FPS depending if flying or ground and the complexity of the add on, I use all OrbX, many airports, etc. The monitors have 3 different resolutions depending on their use and since v1.4 is heavy on the CPU side all runs well, very smooth. Computer: i7 CPU, nVidia GTX770 w 4 Gb, 8 Gb of DDR3 Ram. On the v 2.0 I tried on one the main monitor, 2560x1440, all other things similar, same plane a heavy one, in terms of add on and most settings to max and I am getting 50-60 FPS, great!!! Issue comes when I move detached windows to represent the 737 instruments to my cockpit, multiple displays, then the system goes to a halt, show 3-7 FPS but then I cannot even use anything, even difficult to get to menus and shut all down having to quit the service to close. Off course I understand that now all the load went to the GPU, but still it makes it not viable for a set-up like mine, and for sure many other people with own cockpits using multiple displays. It would be good to find some balance and maybe load a bit more as well on the CPU or have setting options to make it even more possible to adapt to each case. For now only option for me is to stick with the 1.4. I hope you and team can consider some options for cockpit users. Anyone else having difficulties with Multiple monitors use in V2???? Best regards, Luis.

Is anyone going back to FSX now after 2 days with P3Dv2?
Reporting back after a few days using it. My rig is a i7 plus nVidia GTX700 w 4Gb and 16Gb of RAM. I am running P3d v2 with FTX Global (v2) and NGX737 and AirbusX so far. With the above it is quite difficult to not stay in v1.4 right now (v1,4 runs extremely well for me) as v2 although works it goes extremely slow when you have undocked panels as I need for my 737NG cockpit MIP's. Apart from FPS and this blogging down with undocked windows with the original planes it does work pretty well. I keep my fingers crossed for PMDG to be quick on their side. Maybe someone has other ideas how to get the undocked windows not to bog down the system?

Is anyone going back to FSX now after 2 days with P3Dv2?
Hello Roar, I have been already fully P3D v1.4 for as long as P3D has been out. It works great with your drivers and my cockpit 737NG. I only fly the NGX from PMDG and use your great software with the Opencockpits + others cockpit built. So far I have tried v2 but did not manage to get the bird up and running in V2. When I select the 737NGX it crashes, so for me no go so far. Has anyone found a good way to make it fly in v2? Thank you.

PMDG 737NGX Anyone managed to edit Panel.cgf ?
Great Nolatron, sorry not sure your name, this did it my mistake I had not saved the file as panel.cfg only. I also found a way to get gauges out and edited, cropped and made into new undockable windows so that I can place them properly in my cockpit, I will write a simple how to on this later when I get some free time. Thank you both for your replies! Luis.

PMDG 737NGX Anyone managed to edit Panel.cgf ?
I have tried a lot to make changes in the Panel cfg file: panel_Wide.cfg that is found in Drive:\...\SimObjects\Arircrafts\PMDG... and nothing I change seems to make a diference when I load the plane. For example I tried also to delete, hide, all the bitmaps like: PMDG_NGX_Main_Wide.BMP and even when they are not in the folder I still see the panel in the simulation. I also tred to change the CDU gauge so that only the screen part would show up as a collegue from the Forum suggested but with no result: " To display the screen of the CDU, I modify the panel.cfg of the PMDG 737-800NGX WL in the section CDU left I put: gauge00 = PMDG_737NGX! CDU_Screen, 0,0,390,625, L # 0 In P3D I open a new window with the left CDU. I drag the window to the screen and I OpenCockpits CDU dimensioned to fill the screen" Has anyone been able to make any changes and get good results? I am trying to make views for my homemade cockpit into separate LCD screens and would like to get rid of the frames of undocked windows that some time end up ovelapping another LCD screen due to the resize. Maybe this as been covered before but I could not find, Thank you, Luis.

Problem with PMDG 737 NGX SP1C and CDU Opencockpits
I have tried your solution with no success, do you really get a window with only the display of the CDU on it or do you get the full CDU with the keys in a window? By the way what I did was to add the _Screen part to the line as above. Thanks.

Problem with PMDG 737 NGX SP1C and CDU Opencockpits
Dear Nono, Have you tried to use Linda that has a module for NGX afnd all off sets already there? Would be good to see if it would work with Linda as it is quite easy to set-up. Sometimes there are offsets that will not work for me in FSUIPC as well and then if I use Linda instead it works, let me know. On the CDU panel edit do you do this for the ND as well? BR//Luis.
