February 1, 201313 yr I've been looking at the Simaddons sceneries for Canada the last few days since I stumbled across a mention of them on a different thread. I have a couple questions for those that use them: 1. Any terrain plateauing or other issues using them with FSGenesis terrain mesh? 2. Is there any way to get rid of the goofy-looking people objects in/around the terminals? They look like they were cut out of a kid's coloring book. 3. How do the western sceneries (Kelowna and Prince George in particular) play with Orbx Northern Rockies? 4. Any issues with GSX--specifically the marshallers in the scenery and the GSX marshaller? February 1, 201313 yr I have most of Ralph's [sIMADDONS] sceneries. They are outstanding. He does not do any real marketing, which is a shame really, he is a one man band. Price, product quality and service value is superb! You can head over to the ski hill area in Kelowna and fly over animated ski runs, pretty nice work which has nothing to do with the airport but that is the kind of detail he puts into his scenery. I've been looking at the Simaddons sceneries for Canada the last few days since I stumbled across a mention of them on a different thread. I have a couple questions for those that use them: 1. Any terrain plateauing or other issues using them with FSGenesis terrain mesh? I have FS Genesis mesh. There are no plateau issues. Nor any issue related to Orbx where they have their own high level mesh. 2. Is there any way to get rid of the goofy-looking people objects in/around the terminals? They look like they were cut out of a kid's coloring book. Actually they are not the goofy. And yes if you want to get rid of them though you will need to use a tool like Sbuilder, Instant Scenery to create excludes. If your really keen you can take out the orginal stuff and add your own for personal use by using Orbx libraries. 3. How do the western sceneries (Kelowna and Prince George in particular) play with Orbx Northern Rockies? He designes his sceneries specifically to be compatible with Orbx. He also includes an option to include or not include an aerial photo, high resolution background to the airport that blends into the surrounding scenery. I personally use the aerial photo for non Orbx areas but remove when in Orbx country. 4. Any issues with GSX--specifically the marshallers in the scenery and the GSX marshaller? I do not have GSX nor any experience with marshallers. Actually Ralph has his own in some airports. AND, he has a really kwel animated de-icing system that is fun to use in winter. cheers, perhaps someone else can provide their GSX experience should they have it and working in conjunction with Simmaddons airports. I should mention that Ralph maintains a private support forum for only those who buy his products. Once you make a purchase, he will provide the necessary security link and password system to allow you to access his support forums. You do not get any useless other chatter on his forums, its all business and since he is located in Europe there is a timezone issue with regard to getting a response, but he is very good at helping on any issue. Quite frankly you will find there are no issues, really. But a few things have cropped up and can be found in an instant on his airport by airport forums. Further, he adds enhancements, free, and posts them for you thru his forums. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
February 1, 201313 yr Author Thanks Bryan. w/r/t creating excludes for the people, how would you do that without also removing the terminal buildings and such? One other question--do the sceneries include approach plates? I note that charts for some of the sceneries (e.g. CYQI, CYAW, CYSX) aren't available through Navigraph's chart service. February 1, 201313 yr I have the Simaddons Kelowna as well as all of the FTX NA series and find there are some minor terrain plateauing around the airport perimeter. It's not a deal breaker by any means but you do see it. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
February 1, 201313 yr I have the Simaddons Kelowna as well as all of the FTX NA series and find there are some minor terrain plateauing around the airport perimeter. It's not a deal breaker by any means but you do see it. The airport is of course flattened, which results in the usual cut and fill around parts of the perimeter. As Dave says, its really nothing, certainly not a detractor and found in many bigger airports. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
February 1, 201313 yr Thanks Bryan. w/r/t creating excludes for the people, how would you do that without also removing the terminal buildings and such? One other question--do the sceneries include approach plates? I note that charts for some of the sceneries (e.g. CYQI, CYAW, CYSX) aren't available through Navigraph's chart service. Yes there are some charts as you noted. But not for CYLW. I use the same source as Ralph as taken his other one's. NAV Canada. Check products and services for the airport charts listing. http://www.navcanada.ca/NavCanada.asp?Language=en&Content=ContentDefinitionFiles/default.xml Here for approach plates http://fly.blakecrosby.com/2010/02/canadian-ifr-approach-plates.html On the excludes issue, I haven't looked at Ralphs architecture but it is easily possible to make very small excludes around one specific object and not remove other items. Or with Instant Scenery you can open up the objects bgl and actually modify the bgl to remove a specific object like just the people. Kelowna doesn't have people, which airport are you looking at, I can check into this if you want? After another look into what you are referring, I believe you are asking about the folks you can see thru the windows of the terminal buildings in some sceneries, like Halifax? And the ability to cut them out of the inside of the terminal. If so, that might be a whole other story. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
February 2, 201313 yr Thanks Bryan. w/r/t creating excludes for the people, how would you do that without also removing the terminal buildings and such? I decided to take a look at several airports. I see what you mean at Halifax. Can't see anything in the others. In Halifax Ralph compiled the airport buildings into four large models with all gateways and building components including people built into those four models. It would be a bit of work to decompile the buildings and remove specific elements (like the people on the walkway out front.) I will ask Ralph about this. Is he OK with someone like me taking a crack at this or would or could he do that for us. The people in the windows are another story, they are part of the texture plates and would require a major bit of rework to replace. February 2, 201313 yr I am reading through the support forum and found this from Ralph. Re: CYHZ and FSDreamteam GSX I don't have it here. But some beta testers gives this: 1. It works on all Simaddons major airports (with some GSX bugs) 2. Reduce FSX airport vehicles traffic to 0% (= no default pushback etc.) 3. Use Simaddons DeIcing tools. (GSX doesn't have this procedures) Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
