Performance issues with xplane 64 bits, need help :/

Featured Replies

hi

first sorry for the english

i am quiet new on x plane, i got it few weeks ago but i don't play it because of performance issues, see my last topic here : http://forum.avsim.n...new-on-x-plane/

as you see i am saying that i get very low frames with clouds, but something weird (but good) happened when i tried again the game this week, clouds were not causing any performance issues now, i had 140 fps on ocean 60-80 fps on continents. The only thing different compared before is that i am using new nvidia drivers (313,96)

but my issues are not completely resolved: scenery objects and autogens are overkilling my gpu (=gtx660) i don't know why, my gpu max temps are only 54 on x plane, in other games it can go up to 61-65. (it goes up 61 even with fsx clouds)

For example in KJFK new york, when i start the flight, i have between 30-40 fps when looking to the direction with the less autogen. When i look to manhattan direction i have less than 20 FPS ! and ... when i take off the plane i always get a ... CTD ! yes i am not lying a CTD on 64 bit ! It only happens in KJFK

here some pics:

When game is not running:

At KJFK:

MY settings:

I also have flickering/shimmering with autogens

Try using Nvidia Inspector. Latest version includes a good X-plane profile.

Hi, just to add to what the others have said, I would turn these down a couple settings, see below. I can't imagine the "trees or cars" at that high a setting, and in New York, is helping your system, regardless how powerful it is, or the specs. Turn down the trees and cars to start, or set them to the minimum, and increase from there. You said it was better when your turned away from the autogen, so something has to be removed or lessened. I think lowering a few things will help a lot.

Ok Talek, here are my suggestions:

Clouds = 15% (HUUUUGE FPS killer here with clouds. Going down to 15% from 45% will yield a substancial gain in FPS)

Number of trees, objects and road = Select the middle option or the one closest to middle if you have an even amount of options.

Water reflection = Low or none. (For some reason, water reflections are a huge source of shimmering)

Give these settings a shot. Also, I suggest you create a thick OVERCAST cloud layer and fine tune with that cloud layer present. Like I said, clouds are your biggest FPS killer and it's good practice to fine tune your system in some sort of a worst case scenario. Once you get a good stable system under such conditions, then you know things will be smooth regardless what the weather condtions are.

Hope things work out for you.

As for NI, I suggest you simply delete it and just stick with XP settings for now, while you fine tune it. Have another program messing with your display settings can only lead to confusion and probably making things worse.

Clouds aren't a problem since i installed new drivers. Over the ocean, i can get 47 fps even with 100% clouds, 45% i have 60-70

The only problem is autogen !

I'll try your advices and reduce somee stuff ... but people say that they have constant 60 fps everywhere with 64 bit everything maxed so i don't understand ...

Talek, unless you are flying CAP patrols in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, I would say 95% of your flying will involve land scenery with autogen and clouds. It is extremely unrealistic to use performance over the ocean as a barometer for testing your system. You have to be realistic here.

You also need to drop the autogen settings and suggested. And remember, not everyone has the same system and unfortunately for you, and you probably don't want to hear this, but there is no way you are going to be able to get 60FPS everywhere with EVERYTHING MAXED, with your current system. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is a fact. You need to drop those autogen options, bro.

Ok, I tried the same settings as your's, same location. Here are the results.

Exact same setting as you, just a lower resolution, 1280x1024. My fps were 52.

I then changed the trees and cars 2 settings lower and my fps jumped to 75.

Lower the trees and cars as I previously posted and you should be fine. Keep decreasing from there if you need to.

Glen

Edit: Sorry, just noticed my water was set to none, with water at default (same as yours) my fps were, 39 at your settings, and 62 with trees and cars lowered. So, you might lower your water a bit as well to gain a few fps's.

who says that ?

No today's computer can do that.

You can chose which setting you like best and want to push, but not max out everything.
