American Airlines merger expected next week

Featured Replies

I read last week that they are pretty much keeping the American brand and moving the corporate headquarters to Ft Worth. Yes, the redesign does make sense now, The executives will probably make millions and the rest better hang on for the ride.

Bill,

There's no probably about it. The executives always make millions. They're going to give Horton a boatload of money to hang around for a couple of years and then go away. My concern is that they've promised so much to the various groups at American, that it will put us in a big hole right from the get go. The combined airline at the first day of the merger will have more than 100k employees. You can be sure that two years down the road that that number will be significantly less. You'll never hear them say it though until all of the regulatory hurdles have been passed and the ink is drying on the certificate.

Good luck, Mike. You're right. So many people are going to get hurt and face a very uncertain future as far longevity or retirement goes. I feel for you.

Sincerely,

Bill W.

We've been told by our union to expect a merger announcement tomorrow. Words cannot express my excitement at this one. (sarcasm intended)
