As of this evening, I am unable to login to Games for Windows Live from within Flight. Arrgg!! No AOTDs!!

 

It's just the generic message that the service may be down or there may be a problem with my "home networking equipment or firewall." No error number.

 

The error message says to go to www.xbox.com/support, which I did, but I'm having a hard time finding help there for GFWL. I did a chat with a Microsoft person, who said she couldn't help me with GFWL, but she gave me a phone number to call - but, of course, they're closed now.

 

So, I'll call tomorrow night, but I was wondering if anyone here could give me some tips for troubleshooting this problem in the meantime. I can get on the internet, of course, and I can login to my Live (Hotmail) account to see email. I don't know what could have happened between last night and tonight that could have caused this. I updated (via Windows Update) software for my wireless keyboard and mouse; I can't seem to revert that, but it's hard to imagine that could cause this problem, but who know? Other than that, no changes to the system.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Whew! Problem solved.

 

I disabled my firewalI, but that had no effect. I was able to login to Live elsewhere, and the Microsoft Flight site still showed the correct number of aerocaches when I logged in there, so I figured the problem was within Flight itself.

 

It was configured to login automatically, so I disabled that, erased my password in the box (which seemed a little short), typed it in again, and logged in manually, with success. I've reconfigured it to login automatically, and all is sunshine and lollipops once more.

 

I don't know how that went bad, but it did. I hope this explanation helps someone else who runs into the same problem.

Now that I've figured that out, let's see if I've (finally) figured this picture thing out, too.

Grrr, I'm having this same issue again, both last night and this morning (Saturday, CST). Does anyone else here connect through GFWL, or do you all use Steam?

 

I know it's not a password issue - when I supply a bogus password, it tells me the username or password is bad.

 

Is GFWL actually having problems, or is it me?

Yeah there is something wrong with it...I got in this morning on my laptop..then I couldn't get in with my desktop...got in with my desktop...now I can't get in at all.

Lots of people complaining about this on the xbox support forum; it's an acknowledged issue. Some people can get in, then they can't, then they can again.

 

I'm in right now - I'm never logging off again, as long as I live.

I will have to sign out in a couple of days...I am going to get a fresh copy of my Career file before I do.

Well, I still can't get into GWFL. But I get to do the hunt for Honolii cove over and over again and fly under the bridge! Off to see a WHO tribute band, will try again when I get home.

Ok, next morning and my hearing is returning but I still can't get in! Is it just me? Never ever had a problem before!

No, simply hooking to GFWL while in Flight is becoming a real chore, I'm in right now but sometimes it takes 10 tries.
