Tips for troubleshooting GFWL connection failure

Featured Replies

Me too!

I'm sorry to hear that guys. I guess it could be the servers between you and MS acting up. I had a few problems not long after Flight was release, but no major problems since. Sometimes it takes a while to connect, but if I wiggle the mouse and tap the button a couple of times it will usually go. At least you're back in now.

Thank you.

Well,

today I re-installed MS FLIGHT on my new win8 rig, "designed"/"built" for DCS World.

I used Steam to install since I had already installed Aerofly FS through Stem. This way I was unable to manually change my games dir, as I usually do to avoid any conflicts with Windows security.

In Win8 I then had problems loading all of my DLCs. The game itself installed flawlessly (the free to play version) but every time I asked for a redownload of a DLC I was presented with an error message of the type described above.

My solution was to:

1) in Windows 8 Defender (the new integrated security platform that already includes MSSecurityEssentials) I set the Steam and the GFWL directories as exceptions under "Settings" / "Excluded files and locations". Then I manually opened GFWL and downloaded each DLC (I didn't download the game itself!!!!, just the DLCs). I noticed some of the DLCs took quite a while to DL...

2) I started MS FLIGHT through Steam, and there I was flying again :-)

A few short flights with the CC followed to satisfy my curiosity about how it would perform, now at full / extreme settings using also a specif Nvidia Inspector profile.

Well, it works beautifully guys!!!!

It's a no go this morning. This is pretty sad on MS part for not trying to fix this problem or not even announcing that there is one.

Signs of a company on it's last breath.

Here is a post (dated Friday) on the xbox support forum that acknowledges the issue:

I was able to connect this afternoon.

So does multiplayer only work on Steam now? I click multiplayer, and then I put in my login information and it gives me the same error message.

1. Start Flight, but instead of clicking play, click Live.

2. Sign Out, and them delete all profiles.

3. Exit the game

4. Go to Credential Manager in the Control Panel.

5. Under Generic Credentials, Remove anything Windows Live-related. (Should only be one or two credentials you are removing)

6. then launch Flight.

7. Re-enter your Windows Live email & Password.

8. Wait 30-40 seconds for your Profile to download.

ensure that you have closed the GFWL Marketplace as well.

Problem has been solved! I was playing 20 minutes ago. It was solved then. Now we can get back to our fun flying time!
