February 12, 201313 yr Hey guys, I was slowly starting to use X-plane 10 more and after only doing GA flights I bought my first airliner for X-plane - the FlyJsim 727, which is a marvellous bird, by the way !!! Allright, after doing some touch and go's starting right from the runway I was about to do my first full flight from gate to gate, and while sitting at the gate and getting ready for departure I was thinking "so, what was that shortkey for pushback again?" ... yeah - shocking, isn't it ? X-Plane does not offer a built in pushback function ... ?!?!? What the ... ?? OK - after calming down again I started to do some research and learned that there are some freeware plugins, which are either age old and not developed any more, or 32 bit only, or "working for some, not working for others", not working with the beta because some mysterious "Sandy" needs to program a new python plugin first etc. ... So I am searching advice from you fellow x-planers here - how is everybody pushing back ? Is there a quick and easy way without having to install 10 different plugins and python just to learn that it doesn't work ? Thanks Albert ---------------- Albert Martin
February 12, 201313 yr if you ever buy the 777 or A320 for xp10.....they come with animated airport vehicules: pushback, food services, boarding, etc.
February 12, 201313 yr You can go to the x plane map, zoom down to your aircraft, grab it with you mouse and move it a bit. Unconventional but something until the 64 bit plug-ins come on board. February 12, 201313 yr You can start the engines and use reverse thrust to back away from the gate. That was done in the real world. Whether it is still done, I don't know. I retired a while back. Jim Morgan

February 13, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the input, guys. I figured moving the plane in the map or letting reverse thrust do it's work are options, but I don't like both because they destroy immersion. Powering back with reverse thrust may have been done in the past on remote places under certain circumstances but for a commercial flight this is not going to happen. And the plugin quoted by woweezowee (huh!) was the one that was said not to work with the betas (some of the last comments posted there) ... Oh well ... so let's wait and see what happens once 10.20 is final ... Still, wondering how the 10th incarnation of a flight simulator cannot offer a default way of pushing back ... LR causes so many question marks... ---------------- Albert Martin

Oh well ... so let's wait and see what happens once 10.20 is final ... Hang on a second ... 10.20 is now out of Beta. You should really try the link to the The Ground Services Push-back plugin that woweezowee gave you. I tested it under both 64bit and 32bit Windows and Linux environments and it works perfectly fine.
