  1. uwespeed, I use pilot2ATC and find that it works very well. Like most software that does a lot it has a bit of a learining curve and sometimes it takes a bit of adjustment to get the voice recogniton right but once your set it works. The developer is very responsive to questions and suggestions. If you get the opportunity try the demo. There is a Pilot2ATC forum here on Avsim. Chuck
  2. Thanks for the explanation, Someone with more knowledge about WED than my limited scope is going to have to answer that one.
  3. Well sir, I sure do not know as I do not know what ags\agb is. Could you be a bit more precise???
  4. Jan, Good point on the d/l from the gateway, that's what I did and put it into a work folder separate from x-plane. Pointed WED to that folder and all the imports work better, no hunting around for those orphan airports. Chuck
  5. Got it Jan and thank you. Works just great, will print out the procedure and paste it to my forehead. Got airport errors to correct I made a few months ago so off to work I go. Regards, Chuck
  6. Jan, I must be dense in the head..... ....... I just cannot get this WED Gateway stuff to work. Getting the apt.dat or the dsf.dat into wed is fine, I make the changes I want, (signs in my case), use the shift-click like you said to get the dsf items up the hierarchy panel and then delete the major file heading so I don't get the hierarchy alert. I then select validate again, and now I get the "This airport is too big" alert. :( I rechecked the Apt & Dsf again and again, the numbers are all ok (KHWY apt of +30-80 and a dsf of +38-078.) In WED I zoomed way out and sure enough, another airport is making itself known as part of the data, thus the alert. How in the heck do I get rid of the other airport? This process is getting discouraging and am about to give up and take up magic tricks  ....hmmm maybe this is already magic, smoke and mirrors. Anyway thanks for any guidance and hope this is the last time I have to bother you. Chuck
  7. Hello Gregg, I to had a fair bit of trouble with speech recognition. My first solution was to change to a USB headset as my old headset was falling apart anyway. This seemed to help a bit, your Mileage May Vary. The 2nd thing I did was go to the Configuration and Maintenance area of P2ATC, the Voice Recognition tab, and change the Initial Silence Time out to 50% and the End Silence Timeout to 60%, as recommended by another user. That helped dramatically and works extremely well unless I say something stupid or don't have the right command. Usually its in a Readback Request. Chuck
  8. You can upload airports built by you under the lego system of LR, but you must register first. You can download any airports available without registering. See: http://developer.x-plane.com/?article=airport-scenery-gateway Chuck
  9. WED 1.3 is available for download at: http://developer.x-plane.com/tools/worldeditor/ The manual for WED 1.3 is available at: http://developer.x-plane.com/docs/scenery/worldeditor-wed-manual-v1-3/ Chuck
  10. Got it Dave, Ran a short 75 mile flight plan (KSTE-KATW), nothing fancy but I was able to totally complete it with all controllers, with an ILS approach, landing and taxi to gate with instructions. Those approach pins on the map sure helped to see what is coming up.Whew!!! Looks like the speech recognition is working quite well. I did not request anything special (rwy) but will get around to that. One request from Tower did come up that I did not see a required response listed in the frmGrammer box. That request was "Call when Established on ILS." I just answered with a "runway in sight response." Thanks again for the help, Chuck
  11. Thanks Dave, Will try to be more cognizant of my position and the requirements for proper comm. I think I had too much going on and really wanted that ILS approach. Also, I realized later on that on my approach to KATW that the controller told me that ILS was not available and I knew it was (in todays data), but in the static FSX data that I think you use it must not be, thus the reason for the frustration at that point. Looking forward to the ability to use the x-plane dynamic data in the future. EDIT: I just took a look at the P2ATC Database Maintenance section. I see that KATW rwy 3 has ILS, but the controller told me No ILS available. Now I am confused. Hi Richard, Yep, thanks for the Distance prod, sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees! Off to the P2ATC manual. Chuck
  12. Thanks Dave, I think I had better take a break.....Inside the control radius, outside the control radius....but I do not know on the map where my radius areas are... Tried your suggestion from last week, knocked off the flight, got a confirmation, asked for vectors back to departing airport with ICAO code and it gave me vectors to destination airport. Thanks for trying to help this frustrated old curmudgeon!! I am done for a few days. Will download the 1.4. Chuck
  13. Hi Wilson, I agree on the specificity of P2ATC and in the heat of an approach and heading changes I am always worrying that I will not get it right. Course its a new program with the usual growing pains of such an item. Once I remember some of the common phrases I think I will be much better. Like you say, support is very very good and looking forward to an update to see how we do. Again, unfortunately, I only have two choices X-plane ATC (ugh) and P2ATC (so far so good)... Chuck
  14. Wilson, Regarding the Pilot2ATC speech recognition. I had pretty much the same troubles and what made a huge difference for me was in the Configuration file Voice Recognition tab changing the settings to 50 & 60. Its been almost perfect ever since. I also ran the windows 7 speech tutorial test or what ever that is called, to be sure the headset and my speech was ok. Don't have much choice for ATC here, running x-plane. So if you still have some P2ATC demo time you could try again with those higher settings. Chuck
  15. Dave, If my approach control for KATW is handled by KGRB, during the approach request for Vectors for ILS approach" for "Runway 03" I assume I need to also add the (optional) REQ of AT and (optional) REQ of ICAO code??? Flight plan into KATW was filed. I tried without the optional' s and she just kept telling me "radar contact" and then silence. I was just about to do the optionals when P2ATC crashed  ....reason unknown...details within the error window very sketchy. Chuck
  16. Hi Dale, Until Dave shows up with the rest of your answers.. I can tell you it will use FMS plans. I run only X-plane which uses .fms. In P2ATC I just select Import (from Flt Plan box) and point to my .fms plan directory. After import of course then run the File & Validate. If your running x-plane you may see a difference in waypoints as at this point in time P2ATC is a static database and I think its based on FSX. Dave is working on a way to read your sim data. Regarding the splash screen, if you mean the initial screen upon opening the program, there is an exit program option listed. If you mean the Configuration screen where you enter a call sign then it just the X in the upper right corner. Any action done or not done in the Config screen is saved upon exit...X.... My range box increments in 50 mile segments with a max of 250 upon clicking again it goes back to 50. Controller radius is in the Configuration Misc. Settings and the range choice is yours. Chkuck
  17. Ok Dave, She did it again but on a different function and I was in the sweaty palm part of a set up for ILS approach and did not note where it was, no big deal. I will see it again one day. Regarding voice recognition. This time on my flight I took explicit note of the requirements for requests for Approach and followed to the letter, went perfect, take off to landing. KATW - KMSP. So, I think we are about to get this all figured out with help from all you folks. Thanks, Chuck
  18. Dave, Thanks for your explanation, will continue to work with it. Here is a little minor glitch for ya...When Anna tells me I am off course, her text prints out, Beech one victor bravo you are off course. Turn (and then the numbers). Well you see the period right after the word course? So she says;" Beech One Victor Bravo you are off course dot" kinda funny when I first heard it, thought she was calling me Dot! Chuck
  19. True on the proper procedures, but I even have the approach speech problems on the practice speech area. Other areas of practice speech are generally good. Could a few of you guys check yours, do not want Dave chasing his tail. Thanks Chuck
  20. John, Settings are already 50 & 60%, the function that is giving me the most trouble is the Approach Controller with mostly all approach requests. Chuck
  21. Dave, As I approach the end of my demo time (you have been most gracious) I wanted to get some checks of speech recognition. Flying various scenarios and most work well, but when we come to the Approach Controller and its commands it is pretty rough. Within the Approach controller and the Approach request are the functions that seem to be the most trouble. Practice speech or real time flight. A Request for Visual Approach (under ApproachRequest) and all subsequent requests below that will not work. Some give a Speech Not Recognized and others nothing at all or maybe a response that does not correspond at all the to the requested command. I verify my speech by going to Departure for instance without trouble on Requests or Readbacks. I have not used Unicom much so not sure how well it works, but with a quick check I am showing some trouble. Bottom line, maybe you (or anyone else) could give a check of the Approach Controller/Approach Request functions on your system(s) and see if my comments are warranted. Thanks, Chuck
  22. Saved my settings to 60 and 60% like John and saw a vast improvement...Thanks John for your efforts. EDIT: 50% & 60%. Dave, A voice recognition problem. Scenario: At KATW, Ground, 121.7. Controller is ANY. Phrase is Information Request. Using Example: Ground, Beech One Victor Bravo, Radio Check. Comes out on the Grammar screen in green as; Ground Beech One Victor Bravo Ready to Taxi. Anna answers with complete taxi instructions. Tried this 4 times in a row, same result. All other examples within the InformationRequest within "any" Controller are perfect. EDIT: the radio check as noted above also comes out with a Ready to Taxi in the Practice Speech function. Could you check and see if you get the same result. Thanks, Chuck
  23. Very good, Glad you where able to figure it out...Will download and give it a ops check. Chuck
  24. Shot sent to your admin e-mail Dave. Maybe some other user will chime in and tell us if they have the same trouble. No sense chasing your tail if the trouble is on this end. Chuck
  25. Hi Dave, When I am in Controller Voices and I mouse over to say Clearance Delivery the "T" box will turn a light blue, when I then hit the T it turns a fairly bright blue but no voice is heard. All are that way with the exception of ATC Center 4 which works just fine. Regarding the Save function, I changed Misc Setting function (Allowed Altitude variance) and it saved ok. Just in the ATC voices am I having the trouble with T and Save. During normal operation in flight all voices, Ground, Tower, Approach, ATC, work ok. Can send a screen shot later if you like. Chuck
