Runway overruns often happen after very light touchdowns and floats, which feel very nice for the passengers but you end up landing long... Depends how hard you hit. A firm landing is one thing, and those I haven't had a problem with. It's the slamming down onto the runway that can't be good for both the passengers and the airplane. The first one was Taipei's runway 23....well....runway 23 at the time. Not sure if it's 23 now or if it's 23 right. The second was Narita's runway 16 right. I think it's safe to say both runways are pretty long. On the first flight, the descent rate was so fast that before we even hit the ground, I KNEW it wasn't going to end well. I was right. We hit the ground so hard I actually got a headache from it. On the second flight, my sister had the window seat, not that it really made much of a difference since the window itself was non-existent in that row, so either way, I had no way of seeing outside to know what was going on. Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
