August 27, 200421 yr Hi,Did anybody buy the this video of a Piper flight in Estonia? http://www.skyfilmproductions.com/If so, what do you think about it?Thanks,J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
August 27, 200421 yr There is a free demo clip of that flight available (31 seconds) on that web site.Jozef http://pluizig.ath.cx/signature.jpg
August 27, 200421 yr >There is a free demo clip of that flight available (31>seconds) on that web site.I had downloaded it Jozef, and the reason I was looking for feedback from people who had purchased it, is that I am not conveinced by this too short demo. Also, the final picture of the panel is out of focus. Based upon the demo, I would not buy it, unless I am told by folks that bought it that it is really well done. There is another thing that bugs me: their product page says that the movie can only be played on one computer. So, I'm not allowed to play it on my DivX compatible DVD player, nor on my laptop? Strange... Would you buy a DVD movie that would restrict you to play it on only one player? But if the video is really worth it, I will e-mail Skyfilm Productions and deal with them about this, before buying it.Their site has also a customer testimonial page, but there is only one entry from a guy called Albert Ramic from Promax Software. I think they are the developers of the PA-28 that is being offered with the movie, so this testimonial does sound a little partial to me.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI

September 3, 200421 yr Well I thought as the product was only a few dollarsI would download it and see if it was worth the money, time and effort. The download took quite a while because although I'mon a 512k broadband connection my isp has throttledit back that much as I only get a 23-26kbps downloadeven in the early hours when everyone is tucked upin their beds, but that's another story, now to thejob in hand...The download went well using the Flight1 downloadapplication which can resume and verify the file asit goes, so there is no worries about the file beingcorrupted. After the file was successfully downloaded to myhard drive I was able to pay via a secure connection. After payment you receive a file which unlocks thefile. The video is encoded in the divx (avi) format. The video quality is good with no dropouts. There isno commentry provided, but you do hear ATC instructionsbut you are not able to hear replies from the crew. Most of the views are shot from the side windows withoccassional instrument and forward views. I would haveliked most of the video taken using the front view aswhen we fly on airlines all we ever see is the sideviews, but that is my personal preference.Hopefully Skyfilm Productions will learn from theirfirst attempt and try to tap into the aircraft audiosystem so the we can hear ATC and crew replies, whichwill also help to reduce engine noise a little also.Overall its not a bad attempt and I would be willingto buy more of their video's if they keep their pricesdown to the level they have now, at least until theyare able to connect into the aircraft audio systemdirectly and not get the audo from loudspeakers. To sum up, I liked the video, I think its worth thethe money, but there is room for improvement in thetwo area's I indicated.I hope this short and amateurish review has been ofsome help to anyone who was looking for furtherinformation.I would like to state for the record that I have noaffiliation with this company whatsoever. __ Catmar
September 3, 200421 yr Hmmm....I just took a 4000 trip across the US in a Baron and my copilot filmed most of the trip-the quality due to compression on the server isn't the greatest but if you want to see a video (for free! :-) ) of my takeoff from Jackson Hole, Wyoming:http://www.studioonline.com/playvideos.asp...6F873707E7B6DD8http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
September 3, 200421 yr One more thing, as I bought it too on a lark. They offer a Piper sound set to purchasers of the video. I've been flying the Australian Simulations Warrior for a few weeks now, so I tried out the new sounds with this plane. What a great combo! I liked the original sounds for the Warrior, but these add a different dimension. The video is fine, but I think the sounds make it worth it.
September 3, 200421 yr Thanks a lot for your review, Catmar.J.J.JJ StruyfBraine-L'AlleudBelgiumhttp://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg Jean-Jacques Struyf between EBBR and EBCI
