February 17, 201313 yr Both taxing and takeoff. I can't keep the plane straight. Worse during takeoff. Don't have this problem with other aircraft. That said. I did this test. 1. I use IYP and Radar Contact with flight plan loaded. Taxing from parking to runway hard to keep on taxi way. Takeoff uncontrollable into the grass just turning back and forth just to get off the ground. 2. Load FSX place myself on runway takeoff more controllable. Repeated from parking. Easier to control on taxi way. Take off better control. What could I be doing wrong. Controls seem to be calibrated. Not this bad with any other aircraft. Gyro drift off. No winds. Saitek controls. February 17, 201313 yr If you're using rudder pedals with a toe brake, make sure the brake axis calibration is good--a nonzero brake axis input on one side can do this. If you have a registered copy of FSUIPC, you can use the logging feature to display offsets 0BC4 (left brake application) and 0BC6 (right brake) with both set to type S16 or U16...check the box to display in an FS window and see what the brake axes values are. A value of 0=off, 16383=full brake. February 18, 201313 yr Prop mgmt is also quite sensitive on the plane. If your power levers are not equal or your prop levers either, then you can experience yawing action on the ground. According to a real KA pilot, steering on the ground is done much more with the power levers and in conjunction with careful differential braking and rudder/nosewheel movement. But still, that FSUIPC suggestion is a good one which I too will check out on mine. Ron W
February 18, 201313 yr Author Ok Bob new to this. I hope I did it right. IPC:0BC4 (S16) = 0x51 IPC:0BC6 (S16) = 0x51 Does this mean I have a zero offset? and is that good? Bill
February 19, 201313 yr Hi Bill, doing the takeoff run in a kingair isn´t that easy in the sim and in real life. Besides of good calibrated controllers as others adviced here allready (rudders and all the prop- and powerlevers if you have a quadrant) ... for the takeoff use first toebrakes, advance powerlevers gently forward until both props are on full high rpm (C90b 2200rpm / B200 2000rpm) then release the toebrakes let her go, keep lined up with the rudders and adcance the power to max without overtorquing, try to keep left and right torque quite sync. By this technique the kingair should keep quite good in line with the runway in sim and reallife. PS: Some years ago I had the problem of a "flickering" toebrake on my CH Rudder pedals, there seemed to be some contact loss in the mechanic and it caused some left toe braking without even touching it. You could see that by a flickering red ingame message "brakes" , if it is not turned off in the fsx.cfg by the user. So I could recommend to take a glance into the fsx.cfg and look for modified lines of "InfoBrakesEnable=False" or "HideInfoText=1" just to verify you SEE the brakes action in the sim and this will also help you to see how much "pressure" it takes for you on the toebrakes untill the brakes get really enabled in the sim. If they are set too sensitive just a bit of pressure on them will enable them allthough you just wanted to use the rudders, maybe at a takeoff-run ?!? Just some thoughts! Cheers! Best regards,
February 20, 201313 yr Ok Bob new to this. I hope I did it right. IPC:0BC4 (S16) = 0x51 IPC:0BC6 (S16) = 0x51 Does this mean I have a zero offset? and is that good? Bill You have nonzero values on both brake axes. With brakes off both values should be zero. That said, they're both the same, so it doesn't explain pulling off to one side. You might check the P-factor slider in the FSX general settings...I generally dial that down (to ~50% or so IIRC)--it's way too aggressive if set full right. February 21, 201313 yr I also forgot to mention that you should allways plug in your devices in their SAME Usb ports on your PC every time to keep their calibrations perfect and steady! Best regards,
February 21, 201313 yr Author Thanks to all, for your replies. I have taken your advice and takeoffs are much better than before. I think I need more practise with the B200. Bill
February 21, 201313 yr Author Andy, Question regarding "InfoBrakesEnable=False" or "HideInfoText=1". Mine was InfoBrakesEnable=True" I change to False. I had no line "HideInfoText=1" should I add it? Thank You. Bill
February 22, 201313 yr Andy, Question regarding "InfoBrakesEnable=False" or "HideInfoText=1". Mine was InfoBrakesEnable=True" I change to False. I had no line "HideInfoText=1" should I add it? Thank You. Bill Bill, sorry for my missleading infos. Please leave your InfoBrakesEnable at TRUE ... so you can see your breakes-actions in the sim. No Need to add the HideInfoText , I just wanted you to make sure you have no such entries to be able to see all the red info-text for nailing down a calibration-problem. You had it setup right just from the start! No need to change anything! Cheers! Best regards,
