Flight number

Featured Replies

I always turn flights around, (to fly back to where i started), so is there a way (including any add-on programs) to change the flight number without re-selecting the aircraft? Because that resets everything that I had set.

Or even something I can make and use with SimConnect??

The way I do it is...I have a desktop shortcut to the Airplanes folder in FSX, I then just go into the aircraft.cfg file with a text editor and change the flight number that way.

Changes you make in the aircraft.cfg will become the defaults for the plane. IF does Flight Numbers/ATC Names without making changes to the .cfg.

Do you mean change flight number mid flight? I don't know if you can do that, but maybe some way to do it...

I mean once you have arrived if you want to fly back to where you started. Real world flights use different flight numbers on the outbound and inbound flights.

i.e China Eastern

PVG-SYD: MU561

SYD-PVG: MU562

Any way to change it in FSX.

in IF you just change the flight number on the plane items page, and press the Return Flight icon on the airport page.

When you choose a plane variation in the FSX plane selection window, you can set the ATC Name.

It is possible to set the flight number using an FSUIPC offset in FSX. So if you're up for it, you could write a little popup program to set it without reloading the aircraft. That's what I've done.

You can do anything, go anywhere, from anywhere, use anything, any other addon, you are free to do what you want to do, the whole point. :) Autoroutes planned isn't easy. If you have a manual planner then you continue to use it, no need to reinvent the wheel but I may put a slide out planner in. If you have real world weather like Opus, then use that too, again, IF may get rw weather. Best go over to the site or have a look at other stuff around AVSIM and FSN.
