Delete your fs9.cfg, restart fs9 and the config will be rebuilt.

Best regards,

2. Your hardware is more than enough to run fs9 with good results. maybe you wanna lower the sliders in "Weather" tab, the visibility and cloud draw. And the best setting for your hardware is, all sliders to the right LOL.. except of course the cloud draw.

3. There are many good tweaks available here at AVSIM sub forum, and also try Nick's Guide.

Thank you for the answers!

Quraisy, yes i know lol... :) You know FSX, and you have the right settings to get the best performance (FPS). I tought if you knew a good HomePage that shows the best settings in FS9?

What's the best tweaks on avsim for FS9? Can you send a link or something, to the tweaks you prefer?

Hello bjorn96!

I have been fighting with my new computer and fs2004 for couple of months now and I´m becoming to sad conclusion. Giving the fact that we both own AMD radeon videocard, it seems that one can not achieve a proper, solid performance in fs2004 with that card. I have tried all kind of settings through radeonpro and it seems that there will always be micro stutters.

So, if there is any happy AMD radeon flyer, I´ll be very happy to get to know your settings. I´m sure this would help also the topic starter as well.

Hi!

I can't understand how the GTX can be so much better? :(

Anyway! When I sign in on vatsim with FSInn my FPS drops from 35/40 FPS to like 25 FPS maybe 20 if it's bad weather!

Can i fix this?

Balderdash!

:) Had to check from Google-translator what that means... :) No, but seriously, when I bought this computer last November, I thought that fs2004 would run like water but no. Bigger airports like CDG and LHR are quite stuttering, especially during the heavy weather. Of course my plane is also kind of heavy, Maddog 2010. So it is quite demanding.

But anyway, I would be interested to receive any good settings and tips for my AMD Radeon.

I disagree with this also. I run a AMD 6950, and am quite happy with it in FS9. (Even in FSX, it runs well as long as I use the shader tweak) I don't find any drawback to my video card whatsoever; any performance issues that I encounter are CPU related, not video card related. My basic video card settings that I use for both sims is 4X SSAA, 2X AF.

Of course, my frames suffer a bit when using a complex plane in big payware airports with 100% AI, but by that I mean dropping down to 25 - 30 fps from my locked 45 fps. I also encounter the occasional stutter here and there when high resolution airport ground textures swing into view, but again, I am well aware that this is more an issue with my CPU than with my video card.

Thank you Jimmy for your suggestions. I gave them a try and things looked a little bit smoother. But then again, as I made a taxi around Manchester airport (free version of UK2000) my frames showed 14-17. And I locked them to 45fps. And that´s quite, well.. pathetic. So something is not matching together and that is what I have hunted so far. My settings inside the sim are pretty much maxed.
