March 5, 201313 yr I'm pretty sure the answer to this one is you 'can't'. Does anyone know of a way to Hold in FSX using default ATC? I have my own 737-800 cockpit, and my FMC would allow me to program a holding pattern, say on approach at the last VOR in my flight plan. The problem is of course that as soon as I enter a holding pattern, ATC will tell me to turn back to my original heading, and if I don't do so will cancel my IFR flight plan. Just wondered if anyone knows of a way around this? I know I could just cancel my flight plan, and make my own approach, but don't really want to do that, as I like to be under ATC control. It would be nice if ATC could just be 'paused' in some way, and unpaused when I have completed a couple of laps in my holding pattern! Any thoughts?
March 5, 201313 yr When you get handed off to the next controller after takeoff, tune the frequenct, but dont contact them. Fly your plan in the FMC. Then contact the tower before landing at destination. Your flight plan wont be cancelled Regards Luke M
March 5, 201313 yr As far as using the default ATC-No you can't. Maybe something like VoxATC, but I don't have it so I don't know. Your best bet is probably to use VATSIM or IVAO-they should allow it unless there is conflicting traffic, and if there is, they can probably vector you into a hold abeam the flight route. Edit: I've just seen the above post. Good idea, but he said he likes to be under ATC control. "If you can't solve and equation with calculus, you're not using enough calculus" - A wise friend
