March 6, 201313 yr I was enjoying perusing the P3D site and began to appreciate how it is attracting a whole new focus from 3PD's who are developing for more serious students of flying--indeed I understand that is their stated purpose, but it's good to see what that is translating into. I wonder how that will bode for P3D's core engine development--promote depth and scalability in the core engine, or leave that relatively intact because the eye candy and so forth is less of a focus for training simulators? March 6, 201313 yr Hard to say. Some professional training simulators have very good graphics, while others haven't. For flight simulation the physics will always require massive amounts of CPU power, so its all about finding the right balance. After all, there is only so much reality in sitting comfortably behind a desk. A great part of real flying, as we all know, is about feeling the forces of the aircraft and nature on your body. With DX11 support more of the graphics will be moved to the GPU, hence freeing up CPU resources, so I think that is key to get better realism in both areas. Could this will also mean your add-on will also stop working? I am thinking of getting the license with the hope of better stability, stutter free Sim, am I too hopeful? Possibly. With ANY new product, there is a possibility of incompatible add-ons but most of the major developers have been working on developing compatible products so it's not anything that I would worry about.
