March 13, 201313 yr Hi guys I'm really loving MCE a few issues I'm having though and seek some expert advice please if I may. 1. I am running flows v1.2 when he finishes pre flight procedure after APU start I seem to be getting a constant beeping in the cockpit? It's something to do with Power just not sure what. 2. When MCE start i find it goes to dialogue mode on start of fsx and I have to minimize FSX to change it to flight mode? 3. Can I get the control Panel to display when in full screen mode on top of fsx window or not? 4. Can I talk to the standard FSX ATC with microphone? or do I need after market product like voxatc etc?can anyone recommend a ATC program that is good with MCE? 5. If I setup PTT on yoke for ATC will that allow me to talk without FO doing things to the aircraft? Thanks for the help. Wayne. http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART

I am running flows v1.2 when he finishes pre flight procedure after APU start I seem to be getting a constant beeping in the cockpit? It's something to do with Power just not sure what. Version 1.2 of which aircraft? Is that the NGX? MCE supports quite a few aircraft, so not sure which procedure you are refering to, just let us know. A constant beeping could be a master warning for something. 2. When MCE start i find it goes to dialogue mode on start of fsx and I have to minimize FSX to change it to flight mode? No you dont have to, simly right click the MCE control panel, and a new sub menu will appear....select "Force Fligth Mode" and you are done. 3. Can I get the control Panel to display when in full screen mode on top of fsx window or not? It wont stay in place when you are using full screen. But you can (as always) ask your First Officer to bring it up temporarily, just ask him "Show control panel" 4. Can I talk to the standard FSX ATC with microphone? or do I need after market product like voxatc etc?can anyone recommend a ATC program that is good with MCE? FSX ATC was never meant to interact directly with a user via voice control, I think the closest you will get is MCE. I am not sure how the interaction works, I believe you will have to choose line of responses, for example "select option 2"...there are some really good videos on You Tube and the MCE webpage of people using the feature. As for aftermarket ATC programs, I believe a lot of people use Radar Contact 4...others may need to help you here. 5. If I setup PTT on yoke for ATC will that allow me to talk without FO doing things to the aircraft? Yup, when you setup MCE via the App Wizard, it will ask you to choose a PTT button on your joystick/yoke, select the button you wish, the First Officer will ignore what you say while you are pressing this button. Dont forget, you can totally mute your first officer by clicking the "microphone" icon on the MCE control panel. Thanks for the help. Wayne. Cheers! Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
March 13, 201313 yr MCE allows you to talk direct to default FSX ATC - you don't say e.g. "Select Option X" (although you can do that too if you wish.) You use standard ATC phraseology. MCE recognises what you say and selects the appropriate ATC option. It also allows you a lot more flexibility than e.g VoxATC, where you pretty much have to be word perfect according to the script. MCE also has a neat feature that allows you to dial your ATC frequency using the VC radio stack or an external radio module like GoFlight or Saitek. You dial your frequency, and MCE automatically connects you to the nearest control centre with that frequency.
March 13, 201313 yr Author Thanks guys appreciate it, in relation to point 1 yes it is the NGX during preflight when he is setting up OHP after its done i get a constant beeping from the AIrcraft I think it has something to do with power the APU IS GOING but maybe I need to do some thing to change to APU power instead of battery power not sure. March 14, 201313 yr Commercial Member Hi guys I'm really loving MCE a few issues I'm having though and seek some expert advice please if I may. 2. When MCE start i find it goes to dialogue mode on start of fsx and I have to minimize FSX to change it to flight mode? 3. Can I get the control Panel to display when in full screen mode on top of fsx window or not? Thanks for the help. Wayne. Hello Wayne 2. This can be caused by some add-on we may not know about that creates a dialog box (the kind that doesn't stop the sim), and MCE wrongly thinks it's one of FSX dialog boxes. You can try this... Go to FSX installation folder Open "fsInsider.ini" using Notepad. Change "DialogReference=0" to "DialogReference=1" and save the file See if MCE starts to "flight mode" as expected. If not, try value "2" instead of "1" Regarding MCE window. The UI isn't expected to display when FSX is in full screen mode. It's purpose is to allow the user to change settings every now and then. Most of the time you can forget about it. We certainly don't expect you to stare at it while simming. There is no button to press to make FO in synch. Our FO reads a lot of data from the sim and is able to work out which flight phase you are in automatically. The only way one can display a window in FSX while in screen mode is to add a gauge to the panel. And that has a major drawback. While it may look cool at first, running MCE inside the FSX process would mean the speech engine gobbling-up valuable virtual memory address space. All serious simmers know FSX being a 32 bit process, it's running out of addresses to accomodate all add-ons. For this reason, we decided that only absolute minimum code should run inside FSX process. The heavy part, speech engine and audio dlls run in a separate process. Should anything wrong happen with MCE or the speech engine, your flight will hardly if ever be compromised. The last thing you want when performing a long haul flight is to see your FO experience a brain fart, going in a loop or something like that, and having to put up with him until the end of the flight, that is assuming your flight didn't end prematurely as a result of the speech engine using too much memory and bringing the whole sim down.
