March 19, 201313 yr Hi guys, did I get the right: VoxATC reads the FSX database via the indexer (including all the airports, navaids, intersections, airways etc.)? So when I use real world maps (US ICAO VFR charts) sooner or later I'll get some trouble because the FSX database (=VoxATC database) is quite outdated. I'm I right? As far as I know the FSX database can't be updated. Did anybody of you encounter problems with VoxATC and real world maps? Thx in advance! Denis
March 19, 201313 yr You can update the magnetic variation and fixes in FSX by going to this link: http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.html and downloading the necessary files. This will make FSX much more accurate since the data for FSX was done in 2005-2006, and it is now 2013. For payware aircraft you can get the current AIRAC cycle from Navigraph, or NavDataPro. Both cost money but I think Navigraph is cheaper. I personally like Navigraph better. The current AIRAC cycle just came out and it is 1303 (2013, March). Hope this helps. March 19, 201313 yr Author Thanks for your fast reply. I've read the readme file of the navaid update thing from http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.html. I think in general it's a good approach for updating the FSX database. But there are some quirks making it difficult in combination with VoxATC (for exmaple the airways are not updated and the consequence will be some serious inconstistence). Maybe for me an interim solution will be not to use real world maps but Flight Sim Commander which shows the FSX database. So at least I have a synchronised basis of FSX-VoxATC-MAP. Any experience with this topic out there? Thx Denis
March 19, 201313 yr I use FSC (Flight Sim Commander) with the Updated AIRAC, and I dont have any trouble with rw charts in FSX. I think if the waypoint doesnt exist in FSX than it just places it there virtually where it should be. I have never used VOXatc. March 19, 201313 yr Author Another question: I'm going to use the Level-D 767 database of navigraph for the VoxATC SID and STAR useage. Will VoxATC only use the SIDs and STARs of this database or will it also use the updated navaids, intersections, airways etc.?
March 19, 201313 yr For that you should either contact LevelD, Navigraph or wait for someone more experienced to come here and tell you. I havent used the LevelD 767 or VOXATC so i wouldnt know. March 22, 201313 yr VoxATC uses all Navigraph data Level-D 767 uses:SID, STARs and the updated navaids, intersections, airways etc. Regards, Andreas Gutzwiller
May 12, 201313 yr Hi, I had an instance of mismatch taxiways to the wrong runway this eevening at Sonomish airport. I talked of taxiway H which is not shown on the airport plan at all. Funnily enough I had just updated the database before flying as I had downloaded mega scenery for the Washington area and wanted to be corrct jsu in case. I have new Level -D 767 data just downloade at the last cycle so I am not sure where this is going wrong. so Updated FSC9 without problem and updated VOXATC no problem but this was the outcome. Any ideas welcome Regards David
May 14, 201313 yr Errrm, nav data does not include ground info like taxiways. Not sure where VOX gets that data, besides, often enough VOX has some really bizarre ideas of how to route you on the ground and I just ignore it, everything is fine as long as you arrive at the runway entry it expects anyway.
