FSX vs FSX Deluxe

Featured Replies

Hi there, I'm still running the original version of FSX (with all the applicable service packs).  Is there any advantage to getting FSX Deluxe, besides the extra planes (that I won't fly)?  Any performance bumps?

Nope. For me, things got a LOT worse when going down the FSX > Acceleration route on my last 2 re-installs.

Now on re-install #7 since August and have gone back to what I know is smooth flying with just FSX and SP1/2.. Have thrown the acceleration DVD away..

Just the opposite of my experience. So, where lies the truth? In opinions?

To me, the main advantage of Deluxe is that you get the SDK, which you need to run Airport Design Editor.

Well, I fly shared cockpit in the Maddog MD80, and having acceleration installed has caused no end of problems...

I've also had a lot of other things hiccup on me that didnt when using just FSX with SP1/2..

Its not going to accelerate your FSX, that much we know for sure... Its an expansion pack, and if your not going to fly the aircraft it comes with, then why install it?

If you dont have many addons installed/configured then it ant do any harm to try it, but if you have a lot of stuff installed, then be prepared. That has been my experience, and I'm new to FSX since August 2012 and am on re-install #7 now.... Getting so few up with it I've bought a different flight sim to try out.

Seems to be a misunderstanding in this thread between FSX Deluxe, and Acceleration.
