(Video) Eye Candy For Trekkies: Star Trek vs BSG HD

Featured Replies

Is there any series fan more consistently dedicated, tireless and creative than The Star Trek fan? Imagine the effort and time that must have gone into this!

Your Fan-Made eye-candy for today.

Actually, its not a "fair" contest though. The Cylons and Colonists still use nukes and lasers. The Federation has Shields, Phasers, Antimatter propulsion and Quantum Torpedos............  :P

BOOM!!!!

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Twenty-three minutes of my life just passed by, and what did I notice?

"Thanks for Wahing?"

It was actually quite well done, although I'm not sure just what the storyline was supposed to be. Did the Enterprise and friends go back in time to save the remaining ships of the Colonial Fleet?

Presumably so, since the Enterprise first found the debris of the Battlestar Galactica, then appeared at the scene of the battle just after the Galactica was destroyed by the Cylons.

The usual "dramatic license" of explosive sounds was used of course...

LOL! I don't think it was intended to hold together logically. The author said don't try to make any sense of it, since there isnt any. Mostly he is just an aspiring Visual-FX artist showing off his stuff. On another note, looking at the ships used, I was curious about the USS Insignia shown at the end of the film, and this led me to yet another very talented artist with a predilection for the Federation.

It really is amazing the labors of love people out there are doing, and the levels of sophistication modern computers are allowing them to attain. http://www.markkingsnorth.com/

That is some mighty nice mesh work, that's for sure and certain!

Actually, my thoughts on the probably timeline makes sense because as I recall BSG and the Colonial Fleet arrived during our current time (circa 1965?), but in the 23rd century the Enterprise crew found wreckage of BSG orbiting in some unnamed system, then went back in time in an attempt to rescue BSG from destruction, having recognized them as "some previously unknown human beings" (perhaps ancestors or at least lost cousins)...

Well, there is that little 'niggle' that I too noticed. But, they had to stick with historical continuity since the OBSG had "Galactica" in English also...

I still much prefer the original BSG to the "reboot". I just wish the writers hadn't lost their vision during the second season. All that time travel (back to ###### Germany) and other nonsense just killed the show IMHO.

Probably saved them zillions from not having to design new sets, costumes and etc. When those episodes come on channels showing reruns though, I find other things to do. (Actually, the original show is so corny I can't really watch it that much except for comparison. I wonder why the original Star Trek doesn't strike me that way?)

Anyway, I think budget issues are the same reason Star Trek originally came up with the transporter; so they didn't have to pay for Shuttlecraft and landing FX.

Well, frankly I much prefered Lorne Greene's portrayal of "Adama..."

The contrast between the two "visions" was too stark for me; where the original series was focused on "hope for the future," the reboot was too much into "despair and angst," IMHO.

That, and the sudden transgendering of "Starbuck" was a disaster...

Lorne Green........

Bwahahahahahah!!!

He is in that genre of actors I think of as "Craggy faces" Like Ernest Borgnine, Charles Bronson, etc.......

My aunt watches "Bonanza" religiously, and I swear I often wonder if he could make it in today's market; he and the rest of them were such singular confections of their time.

James Olmos fit the mold admirably for me since he is pretty close to how Lorne Green would be played in the modern age. But I agree about the angst. Long after I quit watching the show, the kids watched faithfully to the end, ignoring me when I asked did anyone ever, ever, ever Frakking smile even once on that show.

But then almost equally painful were the space angels of the previous show. And we wont even talk about the little deity genius kid......

I have been following my curiosity the last few days, and its got me thinking. Lately we've had threads that delved into such obscurities as street cleaning Sims, trucking sims, Surgery sims........ Whole little worlds of gathered enthusiasm-nuggets scattered across the web. And now I find a thriving lattice of Starship creation And VFX demo Communities. Who knew?

I guess you really can find anything on the web.

Well it seems like the vid creator has noticed a spike on comments and is making some of his own. One of them answers your question about the debris.
