April 1, 201313 yr Hi everyone i just bought MSI GTX 690 this is my first Nvidia Graphic Card i recently quit Radeon HD now am part of Nvidia . Radeon is not bad not at all , the reason for switching is because Nvidia is best for fsx but radeon is also great for other games. Anyway i would to know which is the latest Nvidia Driver that works great for fsx? Should i install the driver that came with the installation disc ? April 1, 201313 yr Wow - wish you could have read the article that said dual GPU cards are a not good for FSX before you bought your card. I'm sure it's mentioned on these forums somwhere, still hopefully it's better than your old card. If I find the link I'll post back. /Edit - http://www.jetlinesystems.com/performance.php "Warning The Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 and other dual GPU graphics cards to be a significant performance decrease to FSX. This is due to their integrated dual GPU design. Jetline is not offering these models due to low FSX test results."

Wawo :( well the good thing is after months of battling a case on amazon of an item that i purchase an never receive finally the product founds its way to my country . Not to long ago i order MSI 560Ti Twin Frozr 2G OC Edition i never receive the product until now that i have GTX 690 :( so i was looking to sell this on amazon an not send it back to the seller because recently we just closed the case that i open on paypal an amazon with him . So is the 560TI any good do you recommend a driver i should try it with before i sell it ? April 4, 201313 yr I imagine the 690 will give better performance than the 560, it just wont give the performance you would expect from a top of the range card for FSX. In your shoes I would see if I could sell both cards and get a decent 680, but if you don't want to do that try both cards first and see which one you want to keep. I don't do a lot of driver swapping, I just find one that I'm happy with and stick with it. For the 560 you don't need the very latest drivers but for the 690 you probably should use the latest ones.

The only problems in fsx can appear in bad weather with HD textures and HD clouds. This is something relatively new, becouse 560ti was long time considered "all you need" for fsx. If you change 560ti, buy at least GTX 580. from 600 series, only 680 and higher performs better than 580. I'm looking to buy 580 or 680, Titan is too expensive. About drivers, you must try, it's different on different systems and users from my experience. In my opinion, it's important to be 310 series, 310.61 or 310.64 beta worked better than last drivers on my system. For some reason, i have less shimering with them Zeljko Budovic
April 4, 201313 yr Slightly related: I always wonder how people who also play new games cope with FSX and various drivers. Last weekend I tried one of the newer games and there were new drivers specially for that game (so the latest official nVidia driver, I own the GTX580). After installing it FSX clearly had become choppy... Luckily I'm not into the newest games so I uninstalled the game and reinstalled the driver that works well for FSX. But I wonder... what if you like a new game and REALLY need a new driver for it to work well but that driver cripples FSX... What do you do?! You can't quickly switch drivers whenever you want to play another game... Anyway, I can't remember (or check right now) what the exact number is but it was a driver from spring 2012. But as Zeljko said: with FSX you have to try and see what works best on your system.

I understand what you mean , wawo how fsx really is you go an purchase one of the best Nvidia cards it can handle fsx well but the older cards perform slightly better , i should have know that but i think am going to stick with it an next time maybe i will purchase the 580 or 680. For now i think am going to try the MSI 560TI twin frozr OC edition this is my first time using an Nvidia card so any mistake i make on this card i will learn . I want to try the level of smoothness everyone have been talking about in FSX Guide i never try it , because i recent card was radeon. For some reason, i have less shimering with them Hi thanks for the info at lease am not alone now , i thought i was the only one with a 560TI . What driver are you using ? Just yesterday i try to install the 110.90 driver from Nvidia an now am having the strange problem that when everything is install an the computer restart it don't go past the window 7 logo right when the window 7 start comes up. It just shows a sign on my LCDTV 32"RCA Not Supported , but when i go into safe mode everything seems find . I have try switching back to the previous driver an it is the same story. Am running out of ideas on what to do . I don't think it has to do nothing with the card but it looks like the 110.90 driver mess everything up no matter how much time i delete everything that has to do with Nvidia the same problem happens everytime i install an restart the computer. Any suggestion ? Slightly related: I always wonder how people who also play new games cope with FSX and various drivers. Now i own the 690 what do i do with it some one said sell it is not bad idea but what fun will it be if i don't know what this card can handle . I think what am going to do for now is used the 560TI until i can purchase or the 580 or 680. As for the 690 i think the best thing to do is try building another rig for other new games except FSX . As i see it if you play fsx a lot an is one of your main games to play you should have a rig setup just for fsx . An if you into other games well just build a next rig for those newer games. April 4, 201313 yr An if you into other games well just build a next rig for those newer games. If money wasn't a problem I sure would do that. Luckily for me I don't really play a lot of other games. ^_^ My driver version btw is 301.42 (for my GTX580). But as said: YMMV.

Any suggestion ? I just reinstaled windows 7 and fsx, last night, becouse of hardware changes(HDD). So i have the latest whql driver, and i can tell you i don't like it at all. It seems that AA is not working well for fsx. I will install later some other driver. I remember that 310.61 or 310.64 Beta driver was the best for me, visual and performance. But i can't remember which one. I'll try later this evening. P.S. maybe you should try 690, i am sure that there is no benefits for fsx, but maybe that card can work better than 560ti. Let us know if you do this test Zeljko Budovic

So once i get that fix i will download the same driver you have an test it on my system. I just reinstaled windows 7 and fsx, last night, becouse of hardware changes(HDD). Now that you mention that when i try the Nvidia Inspector i get this option that said Driver Control LOD should i set that On or OFF ? April 4, 201313 yr I believe Nvidia has a utility on their website that will clean up all files and registry info from a driver install, search around on their website and run it before attempting to reinstall any drivers.
April 4, 201313 yr The latest driver is 314.22 , I've been using GTX-690 since August last year for both FSX and P3D with higher fps than 680
