April 12, 201313 yr Author How do I go about removing just acceleration? I noticed in the control panel it just says Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration. Is there a way to just delete Acceleration and then follow that link you sent to fix the simconnect? I think I figured it out. According to a post online it says if I click the uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration it will only remove Acceleration not FSX. Is that correct? Josh Scholl
April 12, 201313 yr Author I uninstalled Acceleration and now in Program files it just says Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Do I need to still uninstall simconnect or could that have erased the issue with SP2 since I had accleration installed over it? From what you were saying if I had to uninstall simconnect I would have to uninstall it from Add/Remove programs and then on that site you sent me the link to I would have to download each SP one by one, is that correct? Josh Scholl
April 12, 201313 yr The only way to install it is via the directions in the link I provided above at the FS Developers website. It is extremely difficult to relay step-by-step instructions for every computer system and for every FSX system. FS Developers did provide instructions the best. April 16, 201313 yr Author Okay thanks. I took a look at the link again and it tells how to install it but it just says uninstall it first. Doesn't say where to find it. I read online about Peter Dowson and he said the only real way to delete simconnect was for him to reformat and reinstall windows. So that is what I am in process of doing now. I don't know what else I can do if this doesn't work. I just want to give up but I have put so much money into building the computer and purchasing all the add ons that I can't give up. My wife asks me everytime I have a day off how my day went and I always say "it was horrible." I just want to fly and the computer just keeps freezing. After uninstalling acceleration, when I load fsx up and I choose a plane the plane just spins in black. Never had that problem before. I think I saw on some add-ons that it required Accleration to be installed. Is that correct? How would I go about doing that if I install FSX gold that already comes with SP2? Josh Scholl
April 16, 201313 yr It would not show up in the Add/Remove program folder. You would have to uninstall Acceleration and that would leave just FSX in your Add/Remove programs. Again, do not install SP2. The FSX Gold Edition contains everything you need - FSX and Acceleration. Nothing else has to be installed. Once the Gold Edition is installed, do not install Acceleration on top of that as it is already installed. Once all of that is installed, then you need to install the FSX SDK and SimConnect via the link I provided above. Best regards, Jim I believe Jim already mentioned that your FSX Gold has Acceleration. Just Install FSX Gold and you're done. You will have Acceleration (Which has SP2). Jon Preston
April 16, 201313 yr How would I go about doing that if I install FSX gold that already comes with SP2? Jon is correct above too but I want to make sure it is clear that SP2 and Acceleration are completely separate programs. One is free (SP2). The other is payware (Acceleration). Acceleration does not contain SP2 but it contains the same upgrades you would get for fsx if you just installed SP2, plus Acceleration has some new aircraft, scenery, and missions. The additional aircraft, scenery, and missions are not included in SP2 and SP2 only includes an update to SP1. Acceleration was coded differently than SP2 by Microsoft so that you could get everything included in SP2 plus the addon aircraft, scenery, and missions. It is coded so that users who install SP2 cannot get the aircraft, scenery, and missions from a friend who purchased Acceleration. They simply will not work in SP2. I simply deleted the Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK from my directories (it is located with the Main FSX folder on your computer). There are other files installed via simconnect. One is a simconnect.xml located in the same directory as your fsx.cfg. I really don't think it is necessary to completely uninstall it. Just start at the beginning per the directions in the FS Developers link. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 16, 201313 yr Author Okay. If I wanted to reinstall FSX would I just reinstall FSX Gold and leave out Acceleration? I can't remember but I am pretty sure some payware requires it. But I don't want to install FSX gold which comes with everything and then install acceleration over again causing the issue possibly the first time around. Josh Scholl
April 16, 201313 yr FSX Gold contains both FSX, SP1 and Acceleration. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 16, 201313 yr Author Okay, thanks. I was reading that SP2 had bugs in it. Would it be best to just keep SP1 and not install SP2? Josh Scholl
April 16, 201313 yr If you have FSX Gold you have no option but to install FSX, SP1 and Acceleration. SP2 will not be installed. April 16, 201313 yr Okay, thanks. I was reading that SP2 had bugs in it. Would it be best to just keep SP1 and not install SP2? All versions of FSX have their bugs but Acceleration is the most up-to-date version. Yes you are correct, there are several add-ons that require Acceleration or SP2 as a minimum. If you have Acceleration installed it's same as having SP2 but with the extra goodies like Jim mentioned. Install FSX Gold and don't worry. Just don't ever try to install Acceleration over top of Gold. Jon Preston
April 25, 201313 yr Author So today I installed FSX Gold edition disc 1 and 2 and didn't put the acceleration disc in. I went to install PMDG 737 NGX and it said that I needed to download SP2. I downloaded SP2 and when I went to install that it said I needed to download SP1 first. On the website it says if you have installed acceleration do not install SP1 again. What do I do? Josh Scholl
April 25, 201313 yr PMDG 737 NGX requires at least SP2 installed. You can install SP2 or you can install Acceleration (which is the commercial form of SP2). You cannot install SP2 and Acceleration. So, uninstall SP2 and then install Acceleration (which also installs SP1). Or, if you want, go and download SP1. Install it and run FSX at least one time. Then install SP2. Now install the PMDG 737.
