I need a bit of help/guidance

Featured Replies

I installed the trial Sunday and went through the tutorials. Made my first flight attempts yesterday with muixed results. Today was no different. What I want to know:

How "active" can the co-pilot be? He will set altimeter, raise gear, and a few other things but generally insists on following a checklist with him reciting and me affirming.  What I want is to know WHO does WHAT. Some checklist items will not be completed..co-pilot Trav insists on coming back to the item. "acknowledge" "confirn" "set", etc will not do it so I just move on with "ignore".

Put simply: is the primary function of MCE to have a co-pilot read checklists? That is ok with me but if he does more then I need additional documentation.

Thanks for any help with this. Even with my difficulties, MCE is very impressive and voice works extremely well.\

Hi Neal,

What aeroplane are you trying to use?

MCE will give you as much control as you need, it can do voice control of your simulator (reset screen size, pause simulator, increase simulator rate, etc) give you voice interaction with third party ATC or default FSX/FS9 ATC and it also gives you a First Officer for most aircraft.

Some third party aircraft need to be specifically "set up" and supported by MCE, and the list is very large indeed. You do not need to purchase support for every aircraft at additional charge if you buy the Premium edition of MCE. Support of the QW 146 was released recently, and the Coolsky DC-9 is coming up next.

How much can your First Officer do?  it depends on you. MCE is not scripted, your First Officer can do as much or as little as you wish. Also, MCE does not run inside the FSX/P3D engine, so if the voice engine gets stuck or crashes, you dont need to reboot the sim and lose your flight, you simply close the voice engine and restart it, it quickly catches up to the aircraft status.

These are 2 very good videos made by Dave, a fellow MCE user...I have actually learnt a LOT from them, some commands I didnt even know existed.

MCE with the MD-11 (the only voice add on for the PMDG MD-11)

Other than that, the people in support get back to you very quickly, and a few others in this forum who are very knowlegeable, feel free to post any questions you may have.

Cheers,
