AOTD for 4/21/13 - Ho'Ole'A Falls

Featured Replies

Today we have another of Hawaii's, especially Kauai's, famous waterfalls. I thought this one sounded familiar, but I checked my list and it isn't a repeat.

Enjoy.

Thank you.

The area is familiar, though. B)

I flew up through the valleys, since I love this scenery.

If I had an airplane, and I never shall, it would be a small amphibious type, something like the Searay or Aventura (the ultralight!). My fantasy is to fly to out-of-the-way beaches without tourists, drag the boat up on the sand, and spend the day enjoying the place.

That was a strange cache...

I positioned my plane flying west along the Napali Coast close to the cliffs and never saw the yellow marker, but suddenly, while flying at about 200 feet altitude, I got the yellow flash and the credit for the AOTD.   No challenge whatsoever...perhaps it should have been rated one star instead of three.

Must of been a dud. I flew past the same point 20 times before I finally got a flash. Never did see the falls or the yellow marker.

I was looking for the AC, but it found me instead of the other way around.

Got to thinking... One of the permanent AC is based upon the beach with the tunnel and the Kayaker rescue mission is based right along here. But I've never tried to fly through the little tunnel. The Icon fits, because I just drove through the tunnel. Now how many tries will it take me to fly through it??

Bonus points if someone can go through inverted! Luis...?

Great minds often...  come up with the same crazy ideas! :LMAO:   Thanks, Lance, I too thought of that when flying by. Must try it sometime. B)

Best regards.

I have flown through that arch in the past so I tried it again today. It is not that hard in the Cub with full flaps. There is a lot of room in there. Just don't scratch the paint.
