black smoke from exhaust during startup

Featured Replies

From one of the Youtube films on the NGX I saw black smoke coming from the engine during startup (simular to PMDG MD11) but which I seem not to be getting on my startup's.

Rather than having to go throught all threads I wonder if someone will be so kind directing me in the right direction and  for which I thank you in advance.

Kind regards

Why not ask in the comment section of that Youtube video? Or send the video poster a PM directly?

Hi. I know a similar effect which i downloaded to my project airbus 380 the add on is a freeware found in the AVSIM library http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=smoke+effect&CatID=fsx&Go=Search

You have to add the smoke effect to your FSX effect folder and then add a CFG entry in yout aircraft CFG. but you have to check if there is a similar one to the ngx because it has 2 engines only not like the 380. Also you have to click on I to enable it in FSX.

More realistic would be white smoke during startup which you do see sometimes from real airliners. I've never seen black smoke from a modern airliner engine.

Not unless something is seriously wrong ;)

Make sure you have your advanced animations section checked in the graphics portion of the settings on your FSX main menu. If it already is then I haven't a clue and wish you luck.
