What happened to my beloved Q400? (Major problems since 1.006 on Win 7)

Recommended Posts

Yes I did that, but it's not right is it? None of my other aircraft bounce into the stratosphere upon loading. But that; I have to say is neither here nor there, the biggest problem for me is the "outside stuttering" I say outside because inside the aircraft the sim is running fine and at great fps, once this is solved I will wheel her out of the hanger once again, until then I have invested in the PMDG J4100 to satisfy my short range needs.

@@SierraHotel NONE of your other aircraft use an external simulation engine that just uses FSX purely for the visuals and world simulation. 1.006 does not bounce at all for me now and I use a huge amount of third party airports, meshes and scenery, etc. It's also butter smooth in the VC and Outside. My FSX.cfg is practically clean though, I dont mess about with Affinity masks or anything like that, about the only tweak I have is HIGHMEMFIX and a slightly higher than FS maximum for LOD_Radius, nor do I use DX10 preview.

Cheers, Andy.

Same as Andy - my two FSX.cfg tweaks are only highmemfix=true and wideviewaspect=true. On Win 8. Notice a very slight bounce on entry into FSX world, whether with/in ORBX areas or in default FSX scenery. I notice sometimes, with any of my aircraft loaded, and at a major airport, the airport ground vehicles sometimes bounce at load, too. That tendency decreases when I lower my stress on memory via FSX sliders and in-interface config options.

If the bouncing is more dramatic, and not across-the-board Win7 or 8, I would suspect settings leftover from your default aircraft when you start up; try changing that, and your default flight, and see what effect that has on the Q-400's load.

I make all of Nemeth Designs' helicopters cry, for instance, because I have FSX CS172 saved as default, with its mixture leaned and Avionics Master switch off. The choppers "inherit" those conditions when I load them from the FSX interface, and I have to end-run FSX once in the world by Ctrl-shift-F4 (for full mixture rich) and hot key for Avionics Master On, to get everything running.

There may be similar interactions between your default flight (not those two settings, but others) and the Q-400 which are causing your specific misery.

Odd that some are having issues.  I installed the Patch, reconfigured everything using the loader and saved several default flights.  No issues at all on several flights I have made.

Do you use the Saitek throttle quadrant with it too?

Yup, absolultey no problem at all with the Saitek Cessna Yoke and throttle quad.

Pretty much standard axes;  nothing special about them.

You just need to set up your ranges in the MJC Control Panel.

Cheers Andy, I'll try that.
