May 19, 201313 yr Commercial Member Installing over an existing installation will usually create adverse and variable results - the variation is dependent on what version you had loaded to begin with, what version you installed over it, and what addons you had. I think it's safe to say that you're at the point where you must completely uninstall FSX. This will require manually deleting several folders. I've posted the procedure for this in the forums, and PMDG has a guide for this as well. You can find the PMDG Guide at: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx By the way, you might find this interesting as well: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=PMDG+how+to+uninstall+FSX Good to be number 1 (on the list). Now, let's talk about the version you actually had installed. I'm guessing that you purchased FSX Gold. This is NOT A VERSION OF FSX. This is a sales package which contains FSX Deluxe and has SP1 and SP2 on disk. The third disk has FSX Acceleration - which is NOT the latest and greatest version of FSX. You can search the forums for why Deluxe with SP1 and SP2 is recommended and FSX Acceleration is not. My recommendation is to install FSX Deluxe with SP1 and SP2 and leave FSX Acceleration alone. By the way, the little booklet that came with FSX Gold has the instructions and clearly states that you should install Deluxe or Acceleration, but not both. Hope this has been of help. May 19, 201313 yr Buster: First of all sorry to hear about your PC troubles, that's gotta suck. Anyway, you might want to look around the forum concerning problems with System Mechanic. I ran it for years with no problems until one day it corrupted several files and after several weeks of finding and fixing problem was resolved. Bottom line, I don't run System Mechanic anymore.
