May 9, 201313 yr I must have been a fool to imagine that now that I am a proud owner of X-plane 10 my FS woo's would be over :-) Today I have been trying to install it. I downloaded the latest installer, inserted Disc 1 selected all senery I.e. the whole world and have even put in a hard drive dedicted to it. First attempt got stuck with the progress bar on disk 2 just stopped at 1/5 of the way for an hour no message or activity at all. I cancelled it and started again running as an administrator and now it has been running with the progress bar stopped at less than 1/10 of the way across for about 2 hours but the installing line shows activity! Any suggestions?
May 9, 201313 yr what are your computer specs? I had no problems installing all 8 dvd's, took around 1hr 45mins on my i7 3770 DELL. When each disc is done, you will get a message to change discs. Always run all INSTALLS as Admin.
May 9, 201313 yr something Wrong then! i7 920 @ 4.3ghz, 8gigs @1600mhz, GTX580x2 Ran as Admin Is it possble that the updateed installer was downloading the updated version instaed of installing of the dics?
May 9, 201313 yr Check the DVD disks and make sure there are no scratches on them also dirt and even finger prints will prevent the optic lens from reading. Also just to be on the safe side, if you have an antivirus program (who doesn't this days) try to temporarily disable it during the install process. May 9, 201313 yr definitly something wrong here! It is installing but a high retarded rate! the GUI sthows "installing: file name here" these files ususally flash by in the blink of an eye in my experience but in this case each one stays on the screen for a few seconds.
May 9, 201313 yr Anyway its all very weird. Cancelled the install about 1/10 of the way through disc 1. Notices there was .exe so I clicked on it and got the option of a updating to 10.21 so I did it spent 20 mins downloading and installing but I started it up and it worked! Nothing above disc 2 ever even got in the DVD drive! Just had a quick fiddle with it with an X-box controller and I have to say I am impressed. its a lot better than the demo.
May 9, 201313 yr More than likely you are missing some scenery..try globe jumping to see if you end up at an airport surrounded by water.
May 10, 201313 yr Hi, did you check your DVD-Drive? As far as I know, XP uses DL-DVDs. These are not easy to read, especially on older drives. It might also need to be cleaned... Im pretty sure it is your drive.
May 13, 201313 yr Hi, did you check your DVD-Drive? As far as I know, XP uses DL-DVDs. These are not easy to read, especially on older drives. It might also need to be cleaned... Im pretty sure it is your drive. My drive is a plextor px-b320sa Is DL capable. Disc 1 is not perfect but it looks very new just a couple of marks. Most of my DVD look a lot worse and this drive seem to be able to read any disc I put in it no matter how bad it looks! Well I am trying again. its been on dics 1 for about an hour and the progress bar is about 1/10th of the way across. It has so far reported 2 "input/output" errors and given me the option to of cancelling the installation or skiping the file and reparing it latter. I am not holding out much hope for this. Seems I was misinterpreting the progress bar! It appears to show the progree of the the entire install rather than the install of individual discs. i.e. install bar 1/8 filled means one full disc installed not 1/8 of the first disc. And they gave me a pilots license!! :LMAO:
