June 8, 201313 yr Shalom Eytan Remember that crashes are not always caused by something that is in the vicinity, though they mostly are. Occasionally they are caused by something that has no logical connect with the location you are when it occurs. This might be one of those so just keep that possibility in the back of your mind. ScanAFD will sometimes identify a file that isn't an AFCAD but has a .bgl extension so you're right to be cautious. The example you have given is a perfect one. You don't have a duplicate there and removing one of those files would cause you problems. But if it clearly is a duplicate AFCAD, then remove it but don't empty your recycle bin. If you then have a problem, just use the "restore" function on the recycle bin and it will put it back in the same place. Start a flight in the location the AFCAD was for and you'll soon see if it's needed or not. I doubt that a duplicate AFCAD is the problem, given all that you've described but it's still a good thing to get rid of duplicates If it's not an addon scenery or AI aircraft and if it's not a duplicate AFCAD, then I'm not sure what else to suggest but I'm sure one of the wonderful folks on here will eventually come up with a fix for you. If it's any consolation, I am in the midst of an ongoing search for the cause of a CTD AND a texture rendering problem that's been driving me nuts for over a month! Cheers Ian It might be an idea to start a new thread with a topic heading that will catch the attention of someone who has the knowledge to help you more than we've been able to. Just a suggestion Cheers Ian
June 8, 201313 yr So now I'm considering two options, as suggested before. 1 Luis suggested above-"If all that fails, reinstall only the default scenery BGLs (extract them from the CAB files in the FS9 CDs" Question is- where on the 4 cd's is the North America east older to be found? CD3, MSGAME8.CAB. You'll need to overwrite all the BGLs within the following folders: - FS9\Scenery\Name\Scenery - FS9\Scenery\Namc\Scenery - FS9\Scenery\Namw\Scenery This because I'm not sure where are the TX/AR files. Hope this helps. June 9, 201313 yr When I highlight TJSJ (San Juan PR)., It shows: AF2_TJSJ.bgl F1UT_TJSJ.bgl TJSJTtaxiwaySigns.BGL Eytan Looks like a duplicate to me. TJSJTtaxiwaySigns.BGL and AF2_TJSJ.bgl looks like they come from an addon airport. I have the Blueprint TJSJ airport with those two files in them. Although ScanAFD will report those as duplicates they are not. If you open the two files with ADE you will see they are different. Care must be taken with using scanAFD. However , F1UT_TJSJ.bgl is an afcad installed when you installed Ultimate Traffic. It is intended for the default airport and is exactly the kind of duplicate you should be removing. If you have addon airports, or if you use a downloaded AFCAD , you must go to addon scenery\scenery and delete or disable any AFCAD that Ultimate Traffic installed for that airport. This type of clash may not cause a problem at TJSJ, but could be your issue at other airports. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, It is also possible your crash is caused by a faulty AI texture. Do you add your own AI textures? Try to do a flight where you can replicate a crash repeatedly. Important to note day and time. Then try with AI turned down to zero. Peter Peter Schluter
June 11, 201313 yr Author Problem solved! Well, I think I found the culprit. Like some people said, airports further afield could cause the crashes. So I started deleting other addon sceneries in the western hemisphere, doing a test flight after each action. I have a Brazil pack, that when deleted resulted in NO crashes when flying over the eastern US. So thanks for your help guys. At least I've been spared a complete FS9 reinstall. Eytan
