I can't quote one. The thread title made me think of the following:Beech Staggerwing: Nuff said.Spitfire: A cliche and with good reason.Mosquito: Not sure why, maybe it is the history and its capability. One just stops and stares.Boeing 747. Strange think of this aicraft as beautiful, but it looks svelt in action and supremely photogenic.Notable omission:Concorde: Sorry to say this, but when you hear it, it becomes ugly. A hideous noise.

Hi Ian,I agree, for its sleek design and a strange combination of powerful looking and mean looking along with elegance, the Spitfire is truly a beautiful plane... not to mention how big a role it played in the Battle of Britain because of its maneuverability advantage over the German Messerschmidt (spelling?).John

I love flying my "iddy biddy Jumbo"

Got to be the Spitfire without any doubt. Planes that come close are the P51 Mustang and the Vans RV8. For an airliner I would say the connie also.

Hi,IMO, no other aircraft can come even close to this one. ;-)http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0414013/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0978425/L/http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0422266/L/http://www.scandicair.com/images/sa_banner.gifMy specs are:Dell Dimension 4600 P4/3.0 Ghz1024 Mb DDR333 Dual channel memory (2x256,1x512)256 Mb ATI Radeon X850 ProCatalyst 6.14.0010.6599DirectX 9.0cW XP Home with SP1E171FPb Flat panel monitor 17"240Gb (2x120) 7200rpm HD

Hi,Don't know much about the different GA aircraft being mentioned here but as far as airliners go I have a great liking for the BAe-146-200 but my clear favourite has to be the McDonnell Douglas MD-80 (esp the 82/83). As an example http://www.airliners.net/open.file/0794443/M/ For military aircraft I think the MiG-29 Fulcrum has very smooth lines... Geoff

To pick an overall winner would be unfair, because so many planes are really beautiful, so here's my list of aesthetically pleasing aircraft:old SEP: Tiger MothNew SEP: BonanzaOld MEP: DakotaNew MEP: Golden Eagle C421Military Jet: Blackbird SR71 (no contest)Civil Airliner: Concorde before she was retired since then 747 no contest.Regional Jet: BAE 146 has to be, I got a real soft spot for them.Regional Turboprop: Dash 8 it has great lines though the ATR is close.

something about the 747-400Fs that I really love. Cant wait for PMDGs versionbut all time oldie favorite would probably be the DC-8

Old Civilian: DH-88 Comet Saw one in the air at Shuttleworth. Hard to appreciate the sheer beauty of this aircraft until you see it in person.Old Airliner: ConnieOld Military: SpitfireMiddle-age Civilian: DH BeaverMiddle-age Airliner: B-707Middle-age Military (Operational): F-104Middle-age Military (Research): XB-70New Civilian: LanceairNew Airliner: None. They're all butt-ugly flying tube-socks.New Military: B-2
