Hello people,

 

my problem is, that FSX hangs itself up. This was offline, using the NGX over England. I could see hear the sounds, and the cockpit etc was still there, but nothing moved etc. I hope someone has a solution for this.

Try this fix - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947246.  This will increase the heap limitation.  AppHangs/Freezes with sound still playing are usually associated with high fsx settings.  I've had a few and, for me, it was my weather program as I went into the Task Manager and shut it down then, after a lot of attempts, got back into FSX (it's hard to go from the Task Manager to FSX but it is possible with Alt Tabs).  FSX was flying again once I got back.  I tried the same flight another time without any commercial weather program operating and there was no problem.  Now that I have increased the heap limitation, I don't see these freezes/hangs anymore even with real weather running.

Just one question... I didnt use any weather programm at that time, since my weather (fsx engine) is having problems connecting to the internet...

 

I had another error short afterwards...

For SB error try to run SB outside of FSX, not like internal module. Also, run FSX and SB like administrator and disable UAC.

 

For FSX freezing, i saw this issue often this days. What video driver you have installed? Some issues was reported with the last one. For fsx it's maybe better to use older drivers, i have 301.42 for example, the last driver made for windows 7.

 

If driver is not culprit, it looks like OOM or some conflict with UAC, antivirus, or DEP. Probably OOM error. To prevent OOM errors, apply microsoft patch like Jim suggested and limit your texture_max_load to max 2048 in FSX.CFG 

I believe B247NG has it right.  There is a bug with Squawkbox when you run it internally and receive a PM, FSX freezes, goes black and then crashes.

Scroll down to "How Can SquawkBox Be Used?"  I don't use squawkbox, but there are 2 separate versions - external and module version. Module version is started from FSX menu, externall from the WIndows start menu - you need this one.
