June 16, 201312 yr Apparently there is a big hole near Remington Field. These are both new to me so this one should be interesting. Enjoy. Thank you. June 17, 201312 yr  I thought I would be very clever and start the flight from a more distant strip, Wingsong. The Aerocache popped right up while I was still on the ground doing the run-up. Oh, well, just soldier on. The last time I was in this area was in the Winter - very dark even in the middle of the day. So, I never noticed this anomaly (bug!). Looks like that pond either has the wrong altitude assigned to it, or perhaps no altitude at all, in which case it is very far below the surface. This would be a great opportunity to go down there in a helicopter and check the depth. Interesting how there are pine trees all the way down the sides of the hole. Here is my favorite strip in the region - Cherokee. A strange name, nonetheless, since those must not be the indigenous tribes of the region. I ended my flight at Delta Junction over by the river. June 18, 201312 yr That is indeed a very deep subject. I have seen this one before, very interesting. On the ground at Nenana Municipal. Steve
June 18, 201312 yr This would be a great opportunity to go down there in a helicopter and check the depth. You don't need no stinkin helicopter! It goes down to an elevation of 0'. Well, maybe a little deeper than that now... Can somebody throw me a rope and call AAA to come drag the Icon back up for me?
June 18, 201312 yr Oh, good, a picture. And you stepped outside after the crash and pulled out your camera. By the way, how does he do that? Anybody want to guess? Normally, a crash puts the aircraft immediately into reset mode - no chance for stepping outside and taking pictures. Very interesting. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
June 18, 201312 yr I did the trick discovered during the beta where you set the throttle and exit before the plane starts moving. This leaves you in walk-around mode, while the plane departs on its own. I did this at the edge of the hole, then navigated down and let the plane settle.
