How will this handle the NGX?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

My current PC appears to have bit the dust, so I'm in the process of looking for a new one.

On my old one, I used to run quite a lot of addons, including the NGX, along with REX, Opusfsx, GEX Europe, FTX England, UT2 and various scenery addons and could usually achieve between 20-30 fps.

I was looking at this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-372-OE&groupid=43&catid=2475

Would just like some input as to whether it would run those addons mentioned above as good as my old one used to.

The specs of my old one are as follows: PC Specs: Overclocked Intel® Coreâ¢i5-2500k Quad Core (3.30GHz @ max 4.60GHz) : ASUS® P8Z68-V: USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, NVIDIA®SLIâ¢, ATI®CrossFireX: 8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 4GB KIT): 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti - 2 DVI,HDMI,VGA - 3D Vision Ready: 1TB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD10EARS, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE: COOLIT ECO II C240 A.L.C (ADVANCED LIQUID COOLER)

I'm not a computer geek so I don't know how the one in the link compares to the old one, would it run it as good or better or not as good?

Thanks,

Danny

Not familiar with AMD, but it looks like it would do the job.  My basic setup is Intel i7 3770, Nvidia 680GTX, 8 Gb RAM and Asus motherboard and it is very quick without being overclocked.  I'm not interested in FPS so long as the graphics and everything runs smoothly.  I have all the setting on max, no stutters, great scenery at the airports like EGLL and EHAM, EDDF and LOWI which  are all addons.  Nvidia is supposed to be the better graphics card for handling FSX and I've been using Nvidia for some 8 years without any problems.

FSX is mainly CPU. So if you benchmark the old and new CPU. You can see how it will better your system. the video card is better then the old one. For the ram 8GB is do able.

I run 12GB ram, i7-36... (somthing). And GTS450 graphic card.i run a lot of addons aswell.

What's your opinion on the CPU? That's my main concern as I think the Graphics cards are better than my old one but I'm just not sure if the CPU is up to scratch...

4.4 Ghz is good enough for a cpu.  Is it overclockable?

Rob

I think that is already overclocked from 4.1ghz? I wouldn't really know how to overclock it further myself..

My i7 3770 clocks 3.5 Ghz and evrything is fine so 4.4 should be more than enough if the GPU's are high end.

Rob

That's not even an FX AMD, it's an APU with integrated graphics and no L3 cache at all.

Steer clear from that thing if it's supposed to be for FSX, seriously. Listen to Ryan and go with Intel

AMD is far from good with fsx. You will want intel, to get the best performance.

Get a Z77 motherboard. It's compatible with your 2500K but also comes with PCI Express Gen 3 ,it gives your GPU more bandwidth.
