July 26, 201312 yr Oh. Your opinion I guess - but you can't compare a 90's twin vs a modern whale  Well, I'd beg to differ. Seeing as the 777-300ER is the next smallest aircraft commercially available to the A380-800, I'm sure there's plenty of airlines out there right now comparing the the 90's twin and the modern whale to decide which one suits their business model best. Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, BA, Air France, Singapore, Qantas and others yet to order teh A380 I'm sure have all put considerable time and effort into comparing the 777 and the A380 with each other... ^_^ Regards, Ró. But my original comment was more aimed at the older series (200A models etc) Not the newer versions. Since Alex originally mentioned no specific model But no, honestly I don't know enough about the A380 or Airbus to even start that debate  - Luke Pabari
July 26, 201312 yr Since Alex originally mentioned no specific model Even the latest 777 model is an antique compared to the big bus, I'm really impressed by the A380's brake to vacate system among other things and I wonder what improvements the A350 will bring over the A380 systems that have been ported over. Not an antique I wouldn't say, but certainly a generation older... That'll all change though when the 777X flies around 2025... The Brake to Vacate is pretty cool, but the thing I find the most interesting is the ROPS system in the A380, now that's a nifty bit of kit... ^_^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhzwpa99OPw Regards, Ró. July 26, 201312 yr That'll all change though when the 777X flies around 2025... I'm willing to bet that the "X" series will have a 787 cockpit that has gone through some updates, now that will be a sight to see and hopefully they will get rid of that mid 90's brown and keep the 787's awesome grey. As for ROPS yes that is another amazing feature that will hopefully become standard in the future. EDIT--- Just saw you post the same video link. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
July 26, 201312 yr As for ROPS yes that is another amazing feature that will hopefully become standard in the future. Will be standard in the A350... ^_^ It's available as an option on new A320s and the possibility of a retrofit onto older ones is also an option. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.

ROPS is a great addition, something the pilots of QF32 certainly would of become aquainted with rather quickly! The A380 has really changed the game a lot for Airbus and they are rolling a lot of stuff from the A380 to future aircraft, the difference between the A380 and A350 is strikingly small. The 380 would present a much greater challenge I think to develop (the 'mouse' would be incredibly difficult) but there are plans for at least 3 companies to cover the smaller Airbus market and they also plan to branch out (minus the 340). If PMDG did an Airbus, the A380 would be I think the only one they'd consider doing.... Here's hoping  Lawrence Ashworth Lawrence Ashworth
